I hope we actually trade down and pick up a couple of extra guys. History shows no matter how good they were in college one of these top 10 linemen (if not all) will bust or be mediocre in the NFL. We still have some major holes to fill and much needed depth across our front 5.
In a perfect world Jones and Washington will live up to their potential, sign Barksdale, everyone will stay healthy the entire season and our Oline will be as good as our Dline. But we all know that isn't going to happen. If we don't put some serious effort into this line we could being seeing Davis back at QB faster than we would like to see him.

I agree jacobarch. Methinks Snisher just may do what you are suggesting and trade down to add picks for later. I would love for us to pick-up several O-lineman and then get that Gordon RB out of Wisconsin even though he is not a direct need. You can never have enough great talent.

I was looking at a number of sports info sites and teams rosters and Wells, Long, and Barksdale are not listed on many sites' rosters. Barksdale may be back and perhaps Long, but I think Wells and Long are pretty much done.

Looking at numbers it appears that we have $9.5 million in cap space but an estimate of $5.2 will go to rookies, etc. That leaves about $4.3 which is really $500k more per player signed as a $500k player gets knocked from the bottom for each higher salary player signed. Bottom line is we should still have enough for 2 (more) O line. I saw a mock recently that have us go 1 CB and O line with the rest of the picks. We need at least 1 veteran starter which should be Barksdale. Either we are missing something or Jones is a lock to start.

If we sign 2 players its actually about $5.8. For each player signed we cross out someone at the bottom making $515k. Still enough for 2 O line.

Somebody really likes the guy and I suspect it might be Fisher. Sooner or later though, guys like Pead and BQ are going to be out the door because the Rams gave them every opportunity to succeed and they just cannot get past being injured.

I think Scherff will have a career very similar to another Iowa O linemen. Robert Gallery. He was just like Sharif coming out of college super strong but ended up just being average in the NFL. I think of it like this. is he really going to be better than Roger Salfold? I doubt it hopefully he won't have the injury history. But I can't picture him beating out Salffold at right tackle. Saffold was a second rd pick. The #10 pick needs to be an all pro.
