Good summary from Aldan Gonzalez, ESPN.
CB Marcus Peters will cost $1.74M towards the salary cap in 2018, and the Rams will presumably pick up his fifth-year option before the May 3 deadline. They entered the offseason with a projected $40 million in cap space and added an impact player to their greatest position of need at minimal cost. It changes everything about their offseason. More money for S Lamarcus Joyner, DT Aaron Donald, WR Sammy Watkins, etc., and flexibility with how they attack the draft and free agency.
I would be really surprised if our 1st isn't involved.
Remember, we don't have,a 2nd due to the Watkins trade and I just don't see KC taking a package that starts with a 3rd rounder for a pro bowl DB.
Maybe they traded next year's 1st or 2nd in the package instead in order to keep their 1st rounder.
He better be worth those draft picks, although i dont understand how it helps with cap space, he will probably demand more money at some point
You're not going to get an all pro CB in round 1 in the draft and you don't have to pay a franchise tag to keep a #1 CB. And you have more money to sign Donald and other free agents. And you don't have to draft a CB with your first pick
Win win win across the board
I'm hoping we traded Tavon, some Cheetos, and a 3rd rounder for Peters.
While we're at it, let's trade Quinn, a 3rd next year and some Doritos for Jalen Ramsey.
