Locally in the LA area Junkie, the game is live at 7:00 PST here on KTLA, but it will rebroadcast on the NFL Channel at 10 pm PST.

Looks as though he had a similar injury as C. Long did last year. No worries. Although Gaines was primed for a great year, Claiborne and Tru will fill-in nicely. Afterall Tru was coming off the bench in the nickle and sech when Gaines was healthy and now we have will just as an effective line-up with Tru starting opposite of JJ with guys like Roberson and McGee as back-ups.

that's terrible news about Gaines.

first Saffold, now Gaines. typical Rams issues. every preseason we go through this with our hopes dashed before the season even starts.

last year it was Bradford. this year Saffold and Gaines.

It is the culture of the franchise ALR. We have been in a deep abyss for a long time and players instinctively know it and from what I know of Sports Psychology, players become chronically injured. It is a complicated conflagration of factors on both sides of the equation with players and management that contribute to chronic injuries before the season starts. I think this franchise needs a fresh start and perhaps things will change with the pending move.

Be careful Red before you go throwing around bullshit ratings. I happen to have several Master's degrees and you don't have a clue of what you are talking about. Notice the word "conflagration". Perhaps you didn't read that and if you did, you obviously don't understand its context. Besides, you are outside the negativity thread and for you to do what you just did is wandering into no-man's land. You want to discuss this, perhaps you should meet me in the negativity thread. Otherwise your rating was completely erroneous and if it happens again in this manner, you'll get a warning. Perhaps you need to understand things before you post a ridiculous post that you did. Capeeche?

Saffold is prone to injury. Its why the Raiders didnt take him. Jake Long was also ditched by the Dolphins because he was prone to injury. Bradford was prone to injury coming out of college. This has more to do with the GM's than anything. The Rams are willing to take risks on injury prone guys.

There is a psychology to losing that hurts but the Rams are so young that they are in the 'fake it till you make it' stage. At this point, the fanbase is in worse physiological shape than the team by a very, very large margin.

In today's NFL, most teams have a #1 CB, a solid Nickle guy and a rotation of replaceable depth CBs. I like EJ Gaines a lot but I don't think its nearly as devastating a hit as Saffold. Ive never seen an oline this inexperienced ever. My guess is that we are going to see a lot of formations with Kendricks and Harkey and not a lot of Austin and Cook.

That is yet another of the many factors contributing to the conflagration this habitual problem we have Clayton. Nicely done my good man!

To follow up on the psychology thing, if the Rams had been super successful recently then you'd look at week 1 of the preseason and not expect anything. I bet Im not the only person who saw that first preseason game and was disappointed by...well everything except maybe Tavon Austin

Granted but unlike many fans' beliefs, the preseason does matter in primarily one area. The win-loss column is not the primary reason but it is the team attitude. Case in point-The Raiders. Under JDR, there is a palpable significant change in team attitude and that translates into wins in the season. You cannot necessarily flip a switch and suddenly turn on wins in the season after a lot of problems in the preseason.

I reference the LA Rams of the 70's they had a team attitude that EVERY game demanded a player's best even though preseason games back then basically had the same functions they do now. Those 70's teams nearly always opened the season with a string of wins before their first loss.

Under Fisher, preseason games are rife with problems that continue annually such as penalties and injuries. The result is we open the season with a string of losses. Now this year maybe different but because of sports psychology factors in play, the predictability of our preseason as an indicator of our season has been significant at least during Fisher's tenure.

It's the mindset of futility Clayton. We are all easily swayed by the past to harp on the negatives. But Foles looked good early on and in a real game, I don't think we go to the TE to the corner endzone on 3rd and 3 from the 18 or what ever it was. Turmaine Johnson looked good, had that knock down to stall the Raider No. 1's to force the FG. And then on the next drive on a very short field he had the INT for the touchback. Benny Cunningham looked good in short yardage pickups to keep drives alive. and Kenny Britt looked good and for that much so did our young No. 1 OL guys on running plays. They did have some trouble in protection on obvious throwing downs even though we had the TE's in tight.

I hate to say this but I don't have a problem with the Saffold injury. Time to move on. Don't know what the cap or money issue is for him but its time to bring a guy in to play 16 games. I give Fisher a thumbs up for drafting more than enough linemen in the draft. Didn't we all know this was going to happen.
