Could the NFL please hurry up and adopt the NBA format? The Vikings could go 14-3 and they'd be the 5-seed. That's ridiculous.

(1)KC (14-1)*
(2)BUF (12-3)*
(3)PIT (10-5)*
(4)BAL (10-5)
(5)HOU (9-6)*
(6)LAC (9-6)
(7)DEN (9-6)

(1)DET (13-2)*
(2)MIN (13-2)
(3)PHI (12-3)*
(4)GB (11-4)
(5)WAS (10-5)
(6)LAR (9-6)*
(7)ATL (8-7)*
*division leader

No...mostly because divisions like the NFC North had a huge advantage by playing the AFC South and the NFC West. The AFC South outside of Houston is not good...in fact they're bad and while the NFC West is not great this year, they were not seen as bad before the year started. Sometimes it's about when you play teams as opposed to who the team is in an over all sense. The Rams are probably the class of the NFC West, but both the Packers and Lions caught them at very opportune times. So no, besides that, there is not another pro league that sucks less than the NBA, they need to run in season tournaments to try to generate interest, that's pathetic. You can add into that the reality that the NFL is now playing games on Christmas day to fill a void that the NBA can't fill. Mostly because as a league and product, they suck.

The NFC North could easily have three teams with at least 13 wins, 2 being wild cards. That is nuts. Just about every year it seems at least one of the division winners is barely above .500

The NFC North also has 3 of the best 4 teams in the NFC and they have to play each other twice.

I've seen all the arguments and I prefer the traditional arrangement. I see it as win your division, then worry about seeding. If you're good enough you'll get to where you need to go.

Onto something more important...

If the Packers win out and the Vikings lose out, the Packers would be the 5 seed and the Vikes the 6. I think if the Vikings lose to the Pack and beat the Lions, they would then be the 5 and the Packers the 6. Lots to play for, so the game this Sunday is a big one and should be a dandy. The game was flexed to the 4:25 eastern time slot and is the only one that kicks off then. The only other late game is Dolphins at Browns which is at 4:05.

It's almost like playoff football is a couple weeks early, as plenty of games are played between other playoff teams.

KC @ Pitt Wed
Balt @ Houston Wed

Then plenty of other games between teams trying to get in or maintain positioning.
Seattle @ Chicago Thurs
Chargers @ Pats Sat
Denver @ Cincy Sat and is a huge game for both teams
Cards @ Rams Sat
Other Sunday games with stuff to play for
Jets @ Bills
Indy @ Giants
Dallas @ Philly - Philly pretty much locked in as the 2 seed
Carolina @ Tampa
Miami @ Cleveland
Atlanta @ Washington
Detroit @ San Fran

So the only games where neither team has any shot at the playoffs are Raiders @ Saints and Titans @ Jags. These will probably be the most fun games to watch...for all 100 people watching

No in the NBA teams in the same conferences plays almost an identical schedule. Play every team in the opposing conference 2x and play 52 vs your own conference ( play everyteam in your conference at least 3x) while in the NFL the schedule is much different.

If the teams in the nfc north is as good as they think then shouldn't be much of an issue to beat a 9-8/10-7 nfc south winner or a 10-7/11-6 nfc west winner

The race for the last 2 spots in the AFC

Chargers 9-6 - @Pats, @LV Raiders
Broncos 9-6 - @Bengals, Chiefs
Colts 7-8 - @Giants, Jags
Dolphins 7-8 - @Browns, @Jets
Bengals 7-8 - Denver, @ Pittsburgh

Big game Saturday between Broncos and Bengals, and both teams have a difficult closing stretch to get in. I think the Colts need a 3 way tie to get in over the Broncos because of their loss to them, but we'll probably have a pretty exciting week 18 in the AFC.
If Denver takes care of business on Saturday it won’t matter but KC winning today could be huge for us needing 1 final win.

I’m very curious to see if Andy Reid rests Mahomes and the rest of their stars in Week 18 with them having it all wrapped up. I would normally say he should, but given that they played on Wednesday this week it would almost be like having 3 weeks off and that could be too long of a break for their key guys. But if the Chiefs do rest their guys in Week 18 then yeah the Broncos should beat them and get in, definitely good for you guys that the Chiefs won today.

He's no dummy, my guess is they'll play a half or just under.

Obviously you never know what’ll happen but imagine the outcry if someone big got injured in a meaningless game. I don’t think they’ll play more than a quarter if they do play.

Not 100@ sure, but at this point it appears there are 4 teams fighting for 1 spot in the AFC and 5 teams in a battle for 3 spots in the NFC. Tomorrow's games have lots on the line for the Dolphins, Colts, Washington, Atlanta and Tampa Bay. If they don't show up ready to play like a few of the teams did today, their season might be done tomorrow.

The LA Rams will be the NFC #3 seed and host the #6 seed Wild Card weekend (WAS or GB) with:
1) LAR win/tie vs SEA ** OR **
2) TB loss/tie vs NO
...otherwise they will be the #4 seed and host DET/MIN loser on Wild Card weekend.

GB will be the #6 seed and play at LAR or TB Wild Card weekend with:
1) GB win over CHI + WAS loss/tie to DAL
2) GB tie with CHI + WAS loss to DAL
..... otherwise they will be the #7 seed and play at PHI Wild Card weekend.

WAS will be the NFC #6 seed and will play at #3 seed Wild Card weekend (LAR or TB) with:
1) WAS win vs DAL ** OR **
2) GB loss to CHI ** OR **
3) WAS tie + GB tie
...otherwise they will be the #7 seed and play at PHI Wild Card weekend.
