What happens if an 18 year old makes the nhl team out of camp plays 10 games then is sent down at some point later that season, does he go to the AHL?
Only allowed 9 games before a year of his contract kicks in.
If he was a junior player in NA, he goes back to hi CHL club.
Europeans with contracts in their domestic league are generally returned there.
People who fall into none of these categories would be, I believe, eligible for the AHL. I can't think of anyone to who this has recently applied though.
well if a year of his contract kicks in can they call him up?

Brandon Saad 2nd round pick 43rd overall. He's having a good camp isn't he??
Yes sir, didn't think he had a shot, but now stalberg, smith, and bolland are all out with injuries.
It's always a good thing when your team finds a player outside the 1st round. Granted Saad was projected to go higher. Central Scounting had him as the 19th best N.A. prospect available.
Doesn't the AHL have an age minimum?
