The game got out of hand on both sides. The Isles had been walking the "goonery" (that's for you Pen fans) line all third period - as the score was 6-1. No excuse for what Briere did, however. I expect a 1-2 game suspension.

Carcillo vs. DiPietro would have been silly. On the Pronger account, I have no idea. Presumably back in his Duck days...

Any malicious use of the stick as a weapon warrants a suspension, in my opinion. This was a two-handed swing to the face, and I think it deserves 2 - 5, which is about what I thought Avery should have gotten for his double slash a couple weeks ago.

What about the way suspensions are given out makes anyone think there is "bias" to the system they use?

If anything, suspensions seem indiscriminate and random in the NHL.

Well, it was a pussy move by Briere, but anybody who has ever played hockey (and is competitive) makes a play like that every once in awhile when frustrated with the game or after receiving a cheap shot earlier. I'm sure Briere regretted it as soon as it happened. Still, should be probably a 1 - 3 game suspension for Danny. He's obviously not a cheap shot artist.

As for Carcillo, that guy is such a clown. I'll laugh if that dumbass ever gets shitstomped. I mean the guy fights Gaborik (and yes, I know Gabby threw his gloves off) and then wants to fight a goalie. He's working his way up to Corey Perry status for me. I'm not going to root for Carcillo to get injured, as I don't wish injury on ANYBODY.....that said, I won't shed any tears if he ever does.

Wow. Briere totally spazzed out. Give Nielsen credit for getting under his skin. He just talked Danny-boy into a big screw-up. No idea what he said, but it must have been good. Next Isles-Flyers game might be exciting.

I do like Briere, but he can be a little motherfucker sometimes.

I think he'll get a game or two, it sure looked like he tried to whack him in the head. I dont know any of the other circumstances and I dont recall Briere ever doing something like that before so I dont think he'll get that many.

Briere will have a meeting with the league tomorrow at 10:00 A.M.. I'm not expecting much in terms of a suspension. The Islanders will host Philly next Saturday. Should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully Roloson is in goal. Ricky has been stinking up the joint of late.

Actually my biggest concern about the future between the pipes for the Isles is Ricky's contract. It's not the amount of money that bothers me. It's the length of the damn thing. The Islanders have three young goalies coming in Mikko Koskinen, Kevin Poulin & Anders Nilsson. If Dipietro is healthy one goalie spot is automatically taken because of his contract.
