According to reports here in Denver, Jammer will be a role-player primarily used to cover tight ends. He's a bigger more physical player and certainly has a ton of experience in covering Antonio Gates since he's been practicing against him for years. Many of the teams that the Broncos will play this year have outstanding tight ends. Most of the talk radio pundits, critics and Broncos insiders are saying that this is further indictment on the Broncos lack of confidence in Mike Adams. Since they are only going to pay him the league minimum for a one year contract, this one seems like a no brainer to me.
According to Vic Lomabrdi, he was brought in to compete for playing time in nickel packages at the safety position. Makes sense. He is a good open field tackler and good against the pass. Makes that defensive backfield even better.
I agree with Malibu, you can't have enough good players in the secondary. Good signing.
Another thing I love about this, is it's another example of a guy taking a small contract to come and play for the Broncos. Looks like Denver is fast becoming one of the top free agent destinations. It's crazy how fast Elway has turned this franchise around from the 4-12 debacle he took over.
