The ref took care of his ass and it cost the whole Va Tech team a likely stop.

I saw that. Apparently if he'd done that within 1 hour of kickoff he'd been ejected. The refs could do nothing about it since it was outside of that hour.

That is also the reason why the tolerance of the refs is little now.
