OK, so we traded for Smith

Lets look at Pros and Cons of this move

Pros

1. We wont be trading up for a rookie QB
2. We have some semblance of stability going forward
3. We wont be tagging Kirk and playing the year long waiting game again
4. We SHOULD be able to focus on fixing what was really wrong with this team (Defense/Depth)

Cons

1. We didn't really Improve at the QB position
2. We didn't save the GOOBS of cap space moving on From Kirk was supposed to bring
3. IN making this move, we took resources away and created another need on the defense
4. We traded for a 34 year old QB that we will have no choice but to ride with for the next 3 years minimum

Pros:
We can draft Kyla Lauletta or Mike White

Bonus: Bruce played at Richmond where Lauletta has starred. :drum:

You think both will be there in the 4th?? Or are we going to throw even MORE high resources at the QB position by drafting one of them in the 2nd (as we don't have a 3rd now)

I would not throw any resources and would not pick either before the 4th. Hell we only have two picks before the 4th.

I like the kid from Richmond. He doesn't have an elite arm but he looks like a smart player. There are lots of guys going to go before them. I think the Skins have seen a bunch of Lauletta because of their camp being in Richmond.

By the way, IM thinking they don't draft a QB at all because there are a few 25-27 year old QBs out there who will be looking for a home, and they will bring one of these in to learn under Smith. Depending on how that guy looks through the year, they might draft some one to be the heir apparent next year.

I have no issue with that. I have watched the kid from Richmond more than the kid from WKU. Jay knows QBs so I trust his judgement there. We have one for at least the next two years .... for better or worse we have been able to say that since 2014.

Pro: I can no longer support this team
Con: I can no longer support this team

am I being dramatic? Well I grew up outside of NYC and witnessed 2 Giants superbowls

I now live in Philadelphia where they are getting ready to play for a SB. They also were in another SB within the last 15 years.

I'm purging all my redskins stuff this weekend and moving on, until there is a major shakeup in the front office or Snyder sells the team.

I'm now a fan of FanDuel and fantasy football.... or maybe the Jaguars if Cousins ends up there.

Jags are screwed because Bortles likely wont pass his physical after the wrist surgery.

I think the Jets would be plan B in the Cousins camp at the moment. If Elway wants him in Denver, I think Kirk would be thrilled to go there and a lot more willing to ink a deal that isn't as front heavy, as long as it gives him some sort of long term stability.

Yeah Broncos dont appeal much to me though. Out of the realistic teams to get Cousins, Miami would be the only place where I'd have a hard time rooting for him.

I would have loved to see him paired up with Arians in Arizona. That would have been a no brainer follow.

Regardless I hope hes playing in the SB in a couple years.

Also fuck bruce allen and fuck dan snyder

I expect Cousins to improve. I will loosely follow where he goes.

But sadly its time to embrace the madness that is Bruce Allens plan.

So lets hope Smith doesn't go south, IM hoping Bruce is just dumb lucky and we get PAyne in the draft. Add a RB who can stay healthy. And find a LG for fork sake.

Here is what is going to happen. We trade for Alex Smith... Bruce scans public opinion sees its negative.

Skins become incredibly active in free agency.

But guess what... Alex Smith is a 7 to 10 win QB. You dont win superbowls with Alex Smith.

After Alex Smith and all these free agents public opinion will once again sway to the positive side because people are dumbasses.

Allen will hold a press conference with jerseys and SB trophies.

We will finish 9-7. Rinse and repeat.

Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.

I'm 32. Ive been a fan for 27 years. This is what puts me over the top.

I said this two days ago, the prevailing response was that IM crazy and the 3rd we will get next year means we REALLY only traded Fuller for Smith. :gaah:

It is funny, some here and folks outside of this forum think a lot of us were just Cousin fans. I am a fan of the team. I like Cousin's, I wanted him to be drafted and was ecstatic when he was drafted a few rounds after Griffin but as a fan of the team I am going to support the team. Been rooting for them way too long to not be like that.

I wish Cousin's well but it isn't like I had an emotional attachment to him as a person. I just wanted the team to have a good QB.

It is kind of sad though. Knowing the history of the team since Snyder has been the owner is a bit depressing at times. Here's to hoping the perfect storm hits, we catch lightening in a bottle and all that other crap ... and we luck into a Super Bowl. :thumb::pound:

  1. the drama is finally over at the QB position
  2. draft pick was fairly cheap
  3. a little more cap friendly QB contract
  4. didn't get any worse
Cons

  1. not the long term answer
  2. gave up a starting caliber CB
  3. didn't get any better
  4. probably could've waited a yr on the extension

Yeah its sad. Giants 2x SB Eagles 2x in SB...

Its sad and disheartening and not really worth the grief for me after 27 years of fandom. There is no hope with Snyder and Allen. There is definitely no hope with Snyder.

My hopeful thoughts are that Snyder is closer to selling the team then some people think.

Reasons: its not as profitable anymore. No more lines for season tickets. Closing down sections. TV rights are going to be renegotiated as well.

Alex Smith was a desperation move to garner interest, sell tickets, and sell jerseys because thats all Snyder and Allen care about is the bottom line. They dont care about winning or successful longevity.

My other thoughts on why Snyder may not be long for owner cant really be repeated on the internet but I am sure there are some really really pissed off rednecks somewhere in VA or MD.

We are the Redskins.... it aint Washington if we don't have QB drama. :D

I give it til week six, if we aren't 6-0 there will be calls for benching Smith and starting McCoy. And Bruce aint done.... we will sign or draft some one that will make our QB room a living breathing shit show... mark my words.

This is whats going to happen in free agency:

1) Skins sign Andrew Norwell, G to top 3 richest guard contracts in the NFL.
2) Skins sign Jarvis Landry to huge contract because hes a big name and doesnt fit! Makes too much sense. Skins need outside wide receiver. So they sign the biggest name inside guy to a huge contract.
3) Skins sign a Richardson. Either Paul Richardson or Sheldon Richardson and obviously overpay.
4) Skins go hard at Leveon Bell if he is available. Bell uses Skins to increase his contract offer. Steelers call his bluff and they meet in the middle.
5) There is a press conference with jerseys allen, smiles, and trophies and dumbass redskins fans get hyped
6) we go 9-7 and miss the playoffs by 1 game. Allen keeps his job. Gruden keeps his job. Snyder turns a profit.
