The play calling was fine..

Martinez missed wide open receivers all game and kept it too many times when they were running a real zone read..

We should have been able to come out and ran 4 plays and dominated the game........

It should have been Hand off left, hand off right, QB keep left, QB keep right............

And we should have won by 50.......

LOL @ Bo caring about fans getting Butt hurt!

Wow, I guess I did not explain my thoughts well enough!

I would not argue with Damon's comment about the coach, but I am not talking about the X's and O's, I am talking about the emotions that is involved in gearing yourself up to accomplish your task. Bo can teach and instruct all he wants but he can not control the emotions of players with 100% certainty. He can get in someone face or slap them on the head for a job well done, but the (natural emotions) that come from playing a big game is different then they are when you are playing a (supposed lesser opponent).

If emotions did not play such a big part of the game, and everything is what it appears to be... then we should expect that K.State should be able to run Texas into the ground, since they both played UCLA and K.State won outright and Texas got beat bad (score wise).

I am not arguing that Bo does not get the boys ready to play (Game Plan/Schemes) I am saying there is a phenomenon known as Emotion that is part of prep. Execution is the mechanical part of the game and there is no one better at teaching a player what they are supposed to execute, but emotions affect execution of plays. (Rhythm)

I realize I am a novice to all this football stuff, but if you look at what happens week in and week out, it appears to be logical. Yes, Bo does not want this up and down emotion to be part of the game, he wants us to be mechanical in nature, do our damn jobs and everything else will fall into place. But he knows as well as everyone else, that this is something you can not control with certainty.

Having better control of emotions (highs/lows) as well as just going out doing your job no matter who you are playing and to the same degree of effort and efficiency week in and week out, is what many people refer to as mental maturity!

Bo made the comment of why we had this poor performance, and I believe he said, I do not know, it's our fault that we were not prepared to play. (Does anyone really think the coaches let the players take a week off?)

HH made a comment in another thread that stated everyone took the week off, even the fans. Well there is more truth to that than what the naked eye can see. Just as our (fans) emotions were riding high the week we played Washington and everyone was getting hyped..... The emotions that we (fans) had this week prior to SDSU game, was at best mediocre! (You think there is any parallel?).

Go Big Red!

So the fans "taking the week off" has an affect on how the team plays? Wow!!!!

This is my main problem with the game. I can understand a close first quarter or maybe even first half due to the lower team being excited and Nebraska having a hang over from Washington. But to play with such lack of passion, physicalness, intensity, and heart for 4 full quarters is completely unacceptable!!!!!! After a close first quarter or half there should have been someone to step up and get in someone's face to light a fire. There is obviously no leaders on this team to b able to do that. Hell I don't even see much pride either from that game. Again, I understand a close first half but after maybe not being all the way up to play this game the first time they got pushed around by SDSU that should have woken them up but apparently they didn't have any pride or heart to get up from being pushed around for 4 quarters.

Like I said before, I am not jumping off buildings or saying Nebraska will lose 5 games now but I am just pissed at the lack of heart the team showed on Saturday and there is absolutely no excuse for it.

I'm with Jed on this. That team should have adjusted and gotten fired up for the second half, and I don't think we saw that at all.

Let's hope this game lit a fire under their ass for the rest of the season.

My biggest pro was even when we suck we still win. My biggest con was we have alot of work to do with our rush D, or KSU will be running all over us.

1. Compton will be back... if he's not I'll be really surprised. By the time gameday comes, he will have had 5 weeks to study K-State film.... and most likely some Texas film too. David isn't doing a bad job at quarterbacking our defense, but Compton is way better. I'm not saying they have been looking past non-conference teams for the whole season, but if a player were injured, expected to return for K-State or Texas, what would you have been doing with him the whole time? You'd be making him study film... day in and day out.

2. I would venture to say we have a chance of seeing an extra linebacker in vs K-State. K-State's passing game isn't very good at all and with one less DB we should be okay.

As far as Nebraska's sub-par showing the other night... they looked past SDSU... plain and simple. They came off a blowout week at washington thinking they were invincible, and quickly realized they weren't. If anything, it's a good thing more than bad. Just as many have said already, I'd rather have them play like that against SDSU than anyone else in our schedule.

I quit thinking about reasonings for the SDSU game first thing Sunday morning. I was getting a headache..

I took the easy way out and chalked it up to the individual I've been questioning for some time now. Shawn Watson.. He is responsible for the offense that has had multiple penalties/turnovers this year and last. It is he who is responsible for only putting up 17 points on an FCS team.

He's been living off that 62 points Colorado hung on Nebraska back in 2001 for too long. Against a Craig Bohl defense that sucked and got Bohl fired one year later. NU is playing like the Colorado offensive units he coached for 5 years. Never any good at any one thing, no consistent identity, penalty and turnover prone. You never knew which CU offense was gonna hit the field week to week and judging by their statistics from the time neither did the CU players.

There I said it..

I think missing him at MLB has been one of the main reasons we've been having problems between the tackles, it will be great to have him back. I also hope to see a breakout game from Crick here soon too.

I don't think the issue was just preparation or being "Up" for the game. If that was the case the coaches would be able to have fixed it over halftime. Some weaknesses we had on film were exposed by them.

no one should think the brothers Pelini won't have a way to shut down that Run game of KSU come next thursday, b/c they will. The real question is what will the offense do? As nice as it is and always will be to know the D will be ready in the Pelini era I wonder if we wont always have questions about he offense.

At the end of the day its K-State and those mild cats are not that impressive, so our D alone should be able to win it.
