ive been watching far too many of these games and it is blatantly obvious that the coaches don't even want any part of these games either

Season ticket holders are the ones that suffer the most. Forced to pay for two games that are utter and complete jokes just so you can get your 8 home games that matter.

Is there a better way to evaluate talent in a real game atmosphere?

The scrimmages this week have been entertaining. Charge people to view them and have ring girls hold up the round numbers and sell lots of beer. How could that not work? :noidea:

one reason is, the players have become so expensive, so costly, that no one wants to get one hurt.

and yet, they still get hurt. It's football, players are gonna get hurt. Whether they're worth millions or a 150K.

I think it's an important way to evaluate your new draft picks and let guy's try out for the team though.. What other method could be used ? Playing other teams in scrimmages seems like the best alternative...

Cheerleaders used to be a great part of sports until the networks started slapping corporate advertisement logos over the goods.

Preach it man.
I went to the first preseason game simply because I had to pay for the ticket and my car got rammed in the parking lot. Fucking soooooo pissed.

How else do you evaluate that RGIII and the Redskins are still bottom feeders?

Oh shit. That's really crappy man! Pay the gas to go to a lame over glorified practice and end up with car damage and a hit to your insurance for the trouble.

OUCH. :tsk:

I think four games is a waste of time, it should be two. You should be allowed to carry more players during the preseason and just let the guys who aren't already no brainers to make the team play and use the two games to figure out those last few guys to keep.

It's a waste of time to watch them but they serve their initial purpose of evaluating talent.

I get your point, but you probably should say preseason games are a waste for veteran players.

You gotta find out about the young guys under live fire...preferably in games that don't count.

I think there should be 4 games, but the 1st three should be the guys trying to make the team...the final game...play your starters for a half, backups the second half...then strap it on for week 1.

Gotta imagine they're also pretty valuable as walkthroughs for game day situations outside of player performance too. Substitutions, clock management scenarios, etc. Gotta rehearse that kind of stuff some time before day 1.

Preseason is very important to players who are just on the fringe of actually making teams rosters... Without preseason then what would be the point of "evaluating" players if there were questions of whether or not they could play?
