It's all about SoS and who you won/lost against. Georgia has more losses, but who they lost to were a bunch of good teams. Missouri, Clemson, Auburn - all top10 teams. And then Nebraska in the bowl game, which was minus Aaron Murray. Vandy loss was their worst, and they were a 9 win team.

Meanwhile they beat South Carolina and LSU. South Carolina being a top10 team and LSU top20.

:noidea:

Well I like that slant.

We lost to only 2 teams (both bowl teams), beat both the teams from last year's NCG (one of which was ranked number 3 and that was just a week after we beat the number 6 ranked team), lost our best defensive player, lost our best offensive player, our quarterback for a few games and numerous others. I think those factors alone should get us into the top 5 at least.......right?

I'd like to think so anyway.

Wow, just wow. At least you didn't drop Michigan State for winning their bowl game. :L Your formula is full of fail.

Give him props for ranking his own team very low though.. :agree:

The loss to Texas kills it. If not for that loss, top5 very easily, probably top3.

But...but...South Carolina lost to Georgia and Tennessee...and they're in the top 5?

I'm not sure I like this game....

I'm not sure...I only know that we beat the reigning National Champions (an SEC team even!) in a BCS bowl. They were ranked number 3. In successive weeks we beat the number 6 and number 3 teams...

It's like people don't even notice. Do we have to knife someone?

People keep neglecting that Nebraska was banged up too and also without their Senior QB. By my logic, a better record and a head to head win trump SOS.

Nebraska had a better record and beat them the last game of the season and that's the reason you think they should be ranked higher ?

Nah, that's just crazy talk.

Michigan State beat the #3 Ohio State and #5 Stanford in successive weeks and it means nothing. Missouri beat Oklahoma State and ???????? But hey his "system" has 3 SEC and an AAC team in the top 5. Does "system" = "sources" now?

This year who you lost to in the SEC was irrelevant. This year it was who you beat. It changes every 2 years it seems. - Signed OK State 2011.

I do not belong to the rank of a team when you play them actually matters. By my math, Alabama and Baylor aren't top10 teams.

So in your world 8-5 > 9-4?

So are you saying you would rather be 11-2 than 13-0?

Who you win and lose against matters. AKA, strength of schedule.

You're one of these guys who's really going to hate it when they have a playoff and all of this SOS, strength of win/loss bullshit fades away and teams will actually have to prove it against each other on the field aren't you ?

Only four teams will actually have the chance to "prove it on the field."

There will still be arguments about WHICH four teams should have been in the playoff, most of which will arise after the games have been played and one or more teams will have been humiliated in their playoff game(s).

Unless they're doing it like the FCS/D-1-AA playoffs, there will still be tons of controversy eah year, IMO.
