Michael Phillips speculates that Lynden could even possibly be used as a TE...hmmmm

If you listen on the radio he and Portis break it down in a little more depth. They break down leverage and what it tells you and how you can tell whether the D is in man to man or zone. What I didn't hear them talk about was the blitz that Philly was bringing but we have all heard now how Cousins adjusted the protection left to make sure the blitzer was picked up. Unless you played or have extensive coaching most folks don't know this level of detail. I

It is a game of very quick decisions, especially from the QB position. That is the reason there are only so many who are good at it.

It was fun last night listening to Jon Gruden breakdown the Cover 3 defense that Seattle uses. Redskins also use this defense. It is fun to watch the two inside backers for Seattle line up tight in double A gap position then both come, one comes one drops, both drop. Good good stuff.

I understand a lot of it is the QB getting the ball out but the pass protection this year is so much better.

Agreed but don't forget that Cousins was sacked 7 times last year while both McCoy and Griffin were sacked a lot more.

Any objective fan (or non-fan) would admit that RG3 played a major role in his sacks last season. Sure the line was not good. However - it doesn't help when a QB holds on to the ball too long & does a bad job of feeling pressure. Cousins did a good job several times on Sunday of avoiding pressure.

Several years ago an analysis was made of John Beck (perhaps the Redskins worst QB ever) when the Redskins played the Bills. It showed how Beck was greatly responsible for most of the 10 Bills sacks that day. Same principle applies here. Sacks are not simply a product of poor O-line play.

Oh we all understand how the QBs play a huge role. With that said the protection is still way better. Watched the game again last night, Spencer Long played very very well. Even on all the runs that were stuffed on his side he wasn't the problem. At one part of the second half I focused on him and he had like seven straight plays where he clearly won his battle.
