Johnny Football is a really good player, but man he had some talent around him and couldn't win big. The aggies produced the #2 pick last draft, and are about to produce 3 top 10 picks this draft. How in the world did this team lose so many games this season?
Really? You know the answer is SEC SEC SEC.

Colt McCoy was screwed by Greg Davis calling QB sneaks or draws at the worst times.
FIFY
Colt was concussed in 2 different games by K State when GD called QB sneaks behind weak O Lines.
GD has Colt run a QB draw against Bama's big D Linemen in the first quarter when it was unnecessary

He wins the 2008 Heisman and likely plays for 2 straight national titles if Texas had somebody other than Greg Davis as the OC.
FIFY
Please note that Texas was down 19-0 to Tech before losing on Crabtree's last second winning TD catch. TT didn't have a single offensive holding call against them and somehow the sack specialist Orakpo didn't get a sack. I saw several holds on him that were never called.

Give it a few years and we will be asking the same question about Manziel.

I'm totally guessing, but I have a hunch this statement is going to be more true than not.

As a college QB, there's no comparison.

Manziel was certainly more entertaining and fun to watch. But if you want wins and title shots any person with half a brain takes McCoy.

Although I'm surprised McCoy has lasted this long in the NFL. Arm strength has never been something he was blessed with, and I always thought he was a backup at best in the NFL.

We'll see what Manziel does. I think he needs a LOT of work before he's ready to play, and if he's drafted to the wrong team, he's toast. His mechanics, footwork, and ability to read defenses are all suspect at BEST. He's a project. I certainly thinks he has a high upside, provided he can overcome these deficiencies along with staying healthy, which I think will be an issue for him.

It has nothing to do with the NFL. Ask Tommy Frazier, Gino Torreto, and Charlie Ward.

Colt beat 10 final ranked teams in 4 years as part of his NCAA record win totals.
Colt beat 1 FCS team in 4 years for his win totals.

Manziel beat 3 final ranked teams in 2 years (Alabama, Oklahoma, duke) as part of his win totals. Manziel beat 3 FCS teams in 2 years for his win totals.

Colt was a consistent winner that was just a little bit snakebitten with unfortunate timing/injury.

If the voters pick Texas in 2008, McCoy likely pads his stats versus Missouri and wins the Heisman.
Instead a seemingly random draw has Sam Bradford doing the same thing.

He was a spectacular college player.
-------
Your stats say it all Colt played for 4 years, Johnny boy for two so obviously Colt has the better stats. Manziel is no doubt a showoff on and off the field but like Namath onfield has the ability to make things happen.

They were both very good college quarterbacks. Colt did indeed have some incredibly exciting games, just one comes to mind is the comeback win over The Ohio State University in the Fiesta.

JFF was a helluva fun football player to watch. Absolutely. JFF more of a running threat. Colt was a better passer, imo, but it's close. Think JFF is more physical, is bigger than Colt. Saw that JFF's hands are as big as some big guys, e.g. bigger than Cam Newton's. Should give him more control of the ball in the NFL but we'll see.

Holy shit, just realized something: How funny would it be if VY beats out JF for the starting job? If VY's head has been straightened out, it just might happen.

NFL front offices are the dumbest decision makers in corporate america. re: tim tebow.
No way a proven winner, VY, gets a starting job over high priced hype-machine Manziel. I doubt VY is on the team come opening day.

Colt led like 19 4th quarter comebacks in college. Heck he led a great comeback against TTU in '08 until Crabtree happened.

Colt actually won some games for the Browns and would have won more if the Browns' D didnt piss away his comeback leads... and that's playing behind the Browns OLine and throwing to nobodies while having to play the Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers D 6 times per year.

The Browns then benched him for Okie State old boy and have had a coach and QB revolving door instead of building a good team.

The Browns are stupid, very stupid, and they proved it once again by drafting in the first round an under six foot scrambling QB with no history of winning.
