Pommers is doing alright, and is relaxing in the locker room with team Doctors.

He didn't go to the hospital, and he has a concussuion that doesn't appear to be that bad.

Ever have a situation were you want to defend someone but you just can't? Hjalmarsson put me in that situation. Why couldn't he have waited to put that hit on some douche like avery or cooke

Nobody hits Avery, he just gets obscene gestures sent his way...

I know my response won't be particularly well received by Buffalo fans (or other fans for that matter), but to be quite honest, I'm not sure that hit even warranted a penalty. Maybe boarding, the hit was very hard. But let's be subjective here. They said the puck was not around Pomminville. They're flat out wrong, the puck was within 2 feet of him when Hjalmarsson hit him. Hammer took zero strides after reaching the side of the ice and did not leave his feet to hit Pommers. He did not hit him in the head either, and although he comes at Pomminville from behind, he doesn't hit him in the numbers, he hits him from the side. It was a big hit and I do hope that Pomminville is ok. You never want to see a player injured. But to me this penalty appears to be another case of the refs handing out a play based on consequence rather than action. I would not classify this hit as a cheap shot.

I have to agree with you. It was a very very hard hit, but he kept his feet on the ground and his head ended up hitting the glass and that's why he's hurt.

He wasn't completely turned around, more on a slight angle, but even so it's considered a blindside hit to the head. (I know it wasn't a hit to the head, but it was still a blindside hit). Remember that the NHL wants to eliminate East/West huge hits because that's where a majority of the injuries are coming from so that's why the new rule. It will be a suspension I imagine. I understand hockey is a quick sport and you only have a split second to make up your mind, but every player should know the rule by now.

Definitely a boarding penalty made more vicious with Pommers head first smacking the glass and then the ice. I think Super Nintendo Hjalmarsson needs to sit for a game to think about his actions.

I've seen worse not get a suspension and he doesn't have a history of dirty hits. so imma respectfully disagree

I should have added that I'll be surprised if he is suspended...You never know what's going to happen with Colin Campbell and his "Wheel of Justice"

Tried to listen to an interview with Hjalmarsson before the audio cut out.

He bascially said that it all happened fast and that he thought he got him shoulder to shoulder. He had no intent to injure or be dirty, and was surprised that he got kicked out of the game. He was happy to hear that Pommers was still in the Arena and was up and responding well.

Boy, I just really hate this guy now. :)

Mike Robitaille said during the intermission that Hjalmarsson wasn't a dirty player. It looked really bad at first. I'm glad to here that Pommer seems to be okay. The only thing that is certain is that Hjalmarsson will get at least 1 game. It will be interesting to see what the league adds to it.

This was not some sort of bang/bang reaction type play. That is a cop out in this situation. He had all day to change his mind. At least from the center of the blue line to the boards. Elbow clearly plasters the 9 on his jersey.

Having said that, I still think it was a bad decision more than it was a dirty hit. I don't think anybody is gonna look at hjcharmalsssun like he is a killer after this. Thrown out of the game is good enough for me. No games, imo.

Colin's Wheel of Justice is usually pretty generous at dishing out the suspensions early in the season.

He always starts out with this "we're going to send a message" stuff at the beginning of the season and then it fizzles out pretty quick.

Based on that, I expect that he gives him a game.
