What the heck took Kubiak so long to replace Schofield with Polumbus?? Finally in the 4th quarter Kubes finally saw the light. Maybe Kubes thought the world was flat.

Now have two weeks to get Polumbus reps with the first string OL.

Schofield is absolutely terrible. I hate to pile on a guy but he's going to get a qb killed

I cringed when I heard the sideline reporter on what Kubiak planned to do with Schofield in the second half. Kubiak said he had no plans to give Schofield an help.

That makes me worry that Kubes will refuse to make adjustments in the postseason.

What Kubiak really meant was that he was giving him no help in getting off the bench.

Well Kubiak didn't hold to that. There were quite a few plays I saw them keep a RB or TE on that side to at least do a chip. I remember thinking "YESSS FINALLY!"

I find it ironic Kubiak plays Schofield while Brock is QBing but once Manning goes in Schofied goes out.

Wonder how Brock feels about that?

Polumbus has been known to struggle in run blocking, but anything is better then Schofield.

I hope this is a permanent decision. I would think Schofield has to be rated as one of the worst OL players in the entire league. I don't think I have seen a guy struggle as much as him and he just looks to have no confidence. He is just flinging his body in the hopes of guessing right where the rusher has decided to go. That inside move has gotten him so many times. If he at least forces them to go outside it gives our QB a chance to step up into the pocket and maybe buy just a half second more to throw the football. I've always been told that as an OL you just can't be beat to the inside as that is the quickest route to the QB. At least make them run around you.

I agree. If he has a future it is likely at OG.

Alright so I decided to go back and see just how he did and if this could be the big fix in the playoffs that makes all the difference (remember how the Ravens changed up their OL right before the playoffs in 2012 and how well that paid off?)

This post might get long but I figured go play by play with him in.

1st play--Peyton had just come in the game and we are down 13-7 in the 3rd. We run an outside zone play with Hillman. Polumbus does a terrible job getting off the line but ends up making a key block to spring Hillman for an extra few yards.

2nd play--He has the responsibility of blocking the LE and does really well on a 2nd and 4 run play where we pick up the 1st down.

3rd play--First time pass blocking. Engram tries to do his inside move that worked so well on Schofield. Plumbus does a good enough job to hold him off. He didn't have the best of position on him but he didn't give him the easy path to Peyton either.

4th play--Another pass play. The Broncos actually give him help with a RB on the outside. Polumbus looked like he knew he had help to the outside and made sure Engram couldn't beat him to the inside. Engram had to try and swing out wide and the RB was waiting. Without help though Manning takes a huge hit on this one.

5th play--He has backside cut block responsibility and does really well slowing down the DL springing Hillman for a huge run.

6th play--He really isn't asked to do much but try and go head up with the back side DT. The play goes the opposite direction of him on the should have been touchdown by Anderson.

For the obvious goal line running plays they did put Schofield back in then on the touchdown run.

2nd Drive

1st play--We run a zone stretch play to the left with Polumbus having responsibility of getting to the 2nd level and cutting off the linebacker. He does enough to slow the guy down and Hillman goes for a nice run

2nd play--This was an inside zone to the left. Polumbus has back side responsibility and again does just enough to open up the cut back lane that Anderson hits and goes for a 1st down.

3rd play--Maybe my favorite so far. Pass play that was the deep come back by DT. Polumbus was 1-on-1 with the LE and did a very good job of moving his feet and keeping his body square to the LE. My only problem with him on this play is he kept sliding backwards instead of fully engaging. Got closer to Manning than I liked but still showed much better body control than Schofield has in a long time.

4th play--Another pass play but this time he is helping to the inside on a double team and he helped form a nice wall. Manning just made a bad pass unfortunately but this one was blocked really well.

5th play--Inside Zone run to the left again. He starts out with a double team and then peeled off to the 2nd level. Very nice blocking on this play by Polumbus.

6th play--We are trying to run a screen pass to the right. Polumbus is supposed to be one of the lead blockers. The problem is the DE jumps up right in his face reading the play the whole way and knocks the ball down. I think Polumbus could have done just a bit more to either sell it or at least engage the DE long enough so that he couldn't get his hands up.

3rd drive

1st play--This was another deep come back route but this time to Sanders. Polumbus has Daniels to his right to stay in and help block. Essentially he just helps out a bit to slow a couple of guys down. The team did a very good job blocking on this one but Polumbus really didn't do much to help.

2nd play--Another pass to Sanders. Polumbus is 1-on-1 with Engram I believe. He does a decent job at first but Engram ends up throwing Polumbus to the side and almost gets to Manning. Again looks like Polumbus is playing too much with backpedaling giving up any kind of leverage. I would rather see him get a better anchor position and really try to get that first good punch to throw the rusher off a bit.

3rd play--This was a power blocking play actually that was run right behind Polumbus and he did awesome! He opened a huge hole for Hillman that went for big yards.

4th play--It was like he read my comment on the 2nd play because this time he attacked Engram on a pass play and Engram didn't hardly even move from where his stance was. Probably Polumbus' best block by far!

5th play--run play again behind Polumbus. Not his best work as he got pushed back a bit making Anderson have to dance just a bit only picking up a few yards.

6th play--Well this was his worst block. This was the 3rd and 2 down in Charger territory. He was supposed to get to the 2nd level and take on one of the linebackers but seemed to not know his assignment and just stayed at the LOS. The guy he was supposed to block then had a free lane to Anderson in the backfield.

4th drive

1st play--Man this play had such potential. Polumbus himself on this play action pass did a good job helping out to hold up the right side. Unfortunately Paradis missed his block and Peyton didn't have time to hit a wide open Sanders for a touchdown deep.

2nd play--I'm starting to really like this guy honestly at this point. This was a run play that only went for a couple of yards but Polumbus started out with a combo block that he helped drive 2 yards straight backwards and then peeled off to pick up one of the linebackers driving them 10 yards out of the play.

3rd play--Again looks like he maybe had the coaches talk to him or something because instead of going backwards at the snap on the pass play he goes right after Engram and has him contained. Peyton actually had I would say 6 seconds to throw on this play but just couldn't find anybody open.

5th drive

Only play--Run to the right side with Polumbus having 1-on-1 responsibility to kick the DE out. He does it perfectly and Hillman has a huge hole to run through for the easy touchdown. Amazing blocking all around from the right side of the line. If you watch on this play Polumbus also doesn't quit. Heck Hillman his 15 yards down the line of scrimmage and he is still blocking Engram.
