Week 1 Recap:

It is a foreign concept to most of us on these boards, but the NFL.com playoff challenge is one of few fantasy football formats where winning games may actually take priority over the stats. We saw a wide array of strategy deployed as some chose to diversify their investments and load up on players appearing in the wild card round. Others chose to maximize their future opportunities by leaning on bye week players and still more opted to split the difference with a little of each approach.

-Looks like GBR1975 (Treff?) is the leader in the clubhouse with 74 points. He managed to have 3 of his players win their games and they will each play for double points in week 2.

-TKO is also looking good with 68 points and 4 players advancing.

-CardiacKemba equaled TKO's output, but due to some tough luck losses, be only has one player returning for round 2.

-Quite a few players opted to invest heavily in players on bye. Tlance and wboy both used 2 players this weekend, scoring 24 and 16 points respectively. Both will need to replace Shady McCoy in week 2, but the rest of their rosters will be going for double points.

-Wil White, in his swan song will also need to replace Shady, the lone player he used in week 1. He looks poised for a championship run.

-Micro chose to go with the mystery team as he was the only person to start 8 bye week players. His entire roster will be playing for double points in week 2 and he will look to close quickly on the current leaders.

Good luck setting those week 2 line-ups everybody!

This is how things will go, I'm almost certain:

Hardly anyone will feel any ill effects next week, since those who lost guys can replace them, which is about as good as getting double points next week for guys who didn't play this week at all. Those who played a lot of guys this week should still be on top at the end of next week.

The conference championship games will separate the wheat from the chaff. First, only players on four NFL teams will be getting triple points, so guys who invested heavily in those four teams should rise to the top. Especially if a wild-card team made it and and somebody has a bunch of those guys (what I was hoping with McCoy).

But those four teams will be cut down to two in the final week. With a 4x multiplier, a single player who has been carried all the way to the Super Bowl could score 100 points that week.

In the end, I figure a good score in this contest will be 1000 points.

Anything can happen, but there seems to be a bigger gap between the Broncos (at home) and the AFC field than between any teams in the NFC. So apart from McCoy, all I have is Broncos.

So the week 1 line-ups have been unveiled!

Interestingly enough, 4 teams went Bronco heavy.

Wil, Tlance and Micro each started the following 6 Broncos:

Manning, Moreno, D. Thomas, Welker, J. Thomas, and Prater. Wil took it to the next level by starting the Denver D also.

wboy showed some restraint and started 5 only Broncos. He used Keenan Allen instead of Welker.

Micro filled the rest of his line-up card out with Marshawn Lynch and Seattle D. If Denver and Seattle advance to the Super Bowl, he will be nearly impossible to beat.

Tell ya what, along with the last minute Foles for Kaps that KC meltdown and last second field goal by the Saints pretty much cost me any chance I had. Only chance is probably to go all in on a team now.

It won't pay to pick and Broncos or Seahawks at this point (since they are the favorites) since I won't make up much fantasy-scoring-ground anywho. So I went all 9ers, except for Ryan Mathews as my 2nd RB.
