You can't return your own kickoff fellas

Is that just an NFL rule?

I remember a few years ago Auburn had to go for an onside kick and they got the bounce of a lifetime and they recovered and ran it down to like the 5 yard line which set up the game winning TD.

We Eagles fans are very greatful that in a number of aspects Doug Pederson has proven to be anything but Andy (almost the opposite) - or at least the Andy Reid we knew in Philadelphia. Most notably his play-calling (much more adapted to strength and weaknesses of the players), in game adjustments, and clock management.
It hard for me to gauge playcalling and in game adjustments. The Steelers were all over the Chiefs until late and they were able to make a game of it. Maybe that a win for Andy Reid. He seemed to out coach Bellichick in week 1. Reid also abandoned the run in a couple of games this year and maybe it wasn't the best idea. You also had Alex Smith having a career year with the deep ball which maybe he gets some credit for that. Reid has his ups and downs for sure.

In terms of clock management, its usually a negative for Reid although Im not sure if he has a single game worse than the Steelers/Jags playoff game that just happened.

Man, people need to stop with this. It was dumb with the fire Andy Reid crowd, it's dumb with the fire Tomlin crowd.

Oh Andy Reid absolutely should be fired, I havent felt this strongly about Tomlin till today

His defense is absolutely horrific, and that onside Kick decision alone is a fireable offense

With the way the Jags fell apart in the 4th Quarter I don't expect much from them next week, New England isn't gonna go down 21-0 to give Jacksonville this huge cushion.

For the record, NE beat Jacksonville in NE 51-17 in 2015.

Yeah sounds about right.....Jaguars defense is horrendous, and they aint putting up 45 vs BB

There was no negative to throwing on 3rd down with the 2 minute warning hitting on that play. They ran it to Stay in fg range

I don't get your thinking here. They ran it to force a TO.

After the grounding penalty you gotta kick the field goal there, especially after the 10 second run off, you just gotta kick it, then try for the onside kick...
I disagree. The clock is now stopped so you have time to get the play you want.
Assuming you score the FG and recover the onside kick you have about 50 + yards to go with no time remaining. Would've been more if the idiots got OB. If you get the TD now, get the recovering about 10+ yards gives you a shot at the FG.

And it does suck in that there's a good chance the Pats get to basically waltz into the Super Bowl yet again, though Jacksonville does have the roster to make it interesting, and if they had a QB, I'd probably pick them.

Kinda crazy, I'd give the Jags a roster advantage over the Pats for players 2-53, but the Pats have a significant edge at QB.
