They were saying that the Blues had a players only closed door meeting because of their poor play lately.

How many of you guys/gals think these meetings work? IDK but as far as the Sabres are concerned I don't get excited when I hear they had one because I don't think they work.

What the hell do they talk about?

What can they say that they wouldn't say with the coach present?

Do million dollar players need special meetings to get motivated?

Maybe they use them to call each other out? If this is the case I think the coach already knows who should be called out.

much like coaches yelling, it can be effective if used sparingly.

"guys - we need to get our shit together"

done.

Good point I would think if they do it too often 1) they suck and 2) they probably stop listening to themselves.

I agree with puck, it can be effective, but only in small doses. I think you can find out if guys are on the same page or as Hitch said in his presser have 'individual agendas'.

A coach can only say so much. A GM can assemble the right cast, but at the end of the day it's up to the players to perform. If you have the right mix of guys this can be very useful. The Devils had one when they were on a skid late last year and it worked out pretty well for them.

That's because the Sabres get to have them in that cushy new locker room that Pegula built for them last year.

He needs to start doing like the owner in Major League and start taking away luxury items until the team starts playing better.
