Unofficial poll of actual voters on hoopshype.

FYI: Embiid does not make a all defensive team. Neither does Draymond.

But, Vanfleet does...

Again, making these all NBA teams positionless solves these type of problems.

Too many elite forwards/bigs.

Not that many guards.

It is the reverse problem for All NBA

I couldn’t disagree more.

The game isn’t played that way anymore.

Yes and no.

Just because the skills of a position changed/increased, doesn't necessarily mean the position goes away.

Guys like AD, Embiid, Joker, etc. don't play like traditional "back to the basket"bigs/centers...but they are still bigs/centers and are still expected to use their size for what we have traditionally expected from them (paint scoring, rebounds, defense). We just have bigs now who can also handle the ball, pass and shoot from outside.

Maybe change the designation to 2 bigs and 3 wings?

Even then…

Too much gray area.

Would only work if guys like Giannis and KD can be classified as either big or wing.

Because that is what they are.

Siakam would be on a team for sure if that was the case.

Being the 3rd best PF should not put you in the running for all NBA. Making it positionless could eliminate PG for example, and no team plays without a PG. In past years, C would be pushed aside. The best C in the NBA still deserves to be acknowledged as first team (or PG).

Show me all the teams that start 2 centers.
Sure. As soon as you show me the last time a game was organized using the players of the All NBA teams.

You're welcome to embrace a foolish and outdated consistency but also know that you also embrace making a mockery of this list. Any argument that Embiid isn't one of the top 5 players in the league this year is a foolish argument. In back-to-back years the runner-up for MVP will be relegated to 2nd team All NBA. It just serves to make these things valueless.

Actually,

The Bulls basically played without a PG from ‘96-98

Other teams have done it too.

But to your point, PG would be the least likely position to get eliminated from all NBA because the best ball handlers have the offense run through them, and that tends to be some of the best players in the league.

Want to do an all NBA team with a guy like LeBron as your PG?

Perfect. It would work in real life too.
