Also what does this have to do with comment about Jokic being an ass defender? I got ripped here for saying that. I said come playoff time he would be hunted and cooked and that’s exactly what’s happening. These analytics lie. The gap between Jokic and Embiid offensively (edge Joker) is nowhere near as vast as the gap that exists between Embiid > Joker defensively. Not even close. And that’s why the man should have been MVP.
He's not a good defender.

He might not be total ass.

But, Good or Great?

Fuck no.

Hunted and cooked last night. -26. He was involved in nearly every action. My major issue isn’t with the player himself but I know it comes off this way. My issue is NBA media being lazy AF and leaning on these bull shit analytics because they don’t know the game.
So, he's not a good defender.

I'm not sure why that disqualifies him from being MVP.

Should Embiid be DQ'd for not being an elite playmaker?

My guy, we suffer from the same affliction.

We are judging these guys by traditional standards.

When I think prototypical center, I think Embiid.

But, the game has evolved.

I would replace Tatum with Lebron. Tatum has been great over the 2nd half of the season but he started off not so hot. Low FG %'s. I would also replace Curry with DeRozan.

The biggest problem is that these are not objective awards, so bias plays a role. They are voted on awards and no matter who is voting, their bias comes in to play.

If the media votes a lot of them are influenced by how "media friendly" a guy is. Fans tend to vote for the player who plays for their team or for the player they like if a player from their team isn't a choice. Players will vote for their friends.

Heck, some guys get voted against just because folks are tired of them. I mean, I think most of us agree that Lebron should have won about twice as many as he actually has.

Let's be honest here.

Durant only played 55 games.

Derozan, Lebron, Tatum have similar, or better, stats and have played more.

But, nobody will ever suggest dropping him lower.

Not even me.

Hey look @fightinfunbags they did the right thing with Embiid here

But are we ok with Towns on the 2nd team? Seems high.

Also, 4 of the 5 1st teamers are foreign. But yeah the league was so much better 30 years ago

Are we okay with Gobert on the 3rd team?

As the 4th center in a league more and more dominated by perimeter players?

I am not okay with that.

If you’re gonna be a one way guy, he’s the wrong end of the floor to be a one way guy. I’m predicting a similar circumstance with Jokic going forward. It will be the fatigue of the public when the accolades don’t match with playoff results. Gobert has been less than Jokic in that regard.

I like that they ignored positions to give both Jokic and Embiid 1st team.

That was the right thing to do.

But now, further ignore positions and get Gobert off the list for a more deserving perimeter player.

Where is this All NBA team? I can’t find it anywhere on the internet. I don’t think it’s been released yet.

Still hate the lack of structure on these. Should at least be 2G, 2F, 1C per team.

Unofficial poll of actual voters on hoopshype.

FYI: Embiid does not make a all defensive team. Neither does Draymond.

But, Vanfleet does...
