I have to admit, these coaching change rumors each year are pretty entertaining.

Jon Gruden apparently turned down the Tennessee offer:

This stuff is pretty funny!

Fleck would be the 4th terrible pick in a row for Tennessee.
Why keep going after the "flavor of the month".
Probably because proven winners keep turning them down for some strange reason.

98% are somewhat of a gamble IMO.

Unless you're talking about Saban or Meyer, who ain't going anywhere. Swinny could probably be put into that conversation. Peterson's on the edge.

You're not putting Lincoln Riley into that category are you? Take one look at Helfrich at Oregon to see how a coach taking over a program in the upper echelons can have success his first year or two and commence to go down in flames once the program truly becomes his. (11-2), (13-2), (9-4), (4-8).

I could cite many other examples.

For all practical purposes, Florida gambled on Urban Meyer, LSU gambled on Saban, and Clemson gambled on Swinney.

The least gamble was probably Washington and Peterson. He was a consistent winner at Boise.

That's too bad. Minnesota seemed like an ideal situation for him. Go to Tennessee, fail, be unemployed in 3 years, back to the G5 ranks for you.

Interesting. That would suck for Minnesota fans. They finally got a decent coach who could build a program. I kind of hope it doesn't happen. I don't think he'll succeed at a program like Tennessee where instant success is all but required.

But Minnesota is his "dream job"

If he does this he's no better than Todd Graham. With that said, I think he's a pretty great hire for Tennessee. Sucks for Minnesota.

I know there would be a Minnesota fan here that would be thrilled. He hates Fleck.

A day will come, announcements will be made, and all the speculation will end. Then, Hooplans can get around to the real meat of posted repetitive analyses of the hire. Yeah, buddy.

I heard it was Saban to Tennessee. Wasn’t that @OregonDucks big repetitive trash post announcements lately?

The cupboards were bare in Minny, and several key injuries. But he did "build" a program, which is what he was brought here to do. Re-connect and keep in state talent. He was making good inroads. Would actually suck for the U of MN to lose that momentum.

2013 (1-11)
2014 (8-5)
2015 (8-5)
2016 (13-1)

They were trash before he got there.

As I said before. 98% of all new coaches are a gamble.

I thought the thing to do in the SEC was to go hire a Nick Saban assistant.

I really like Fleck. It would be great to see him stay at minny and build them, but I'd understand if he went to the Vols.
