I dont know I think Staal has 40+ goal potential..but staying healthy has been a problem for him.

I think Pitt got the better end of the deal but not a steal.

Yea, no doubt he is a very good player, but when you say no to that 10 year contract offer, the GM is slowly getting cornered the longer he waits. I think you get the most in return by making that deal now. Smart move.

stall is the best player in the deal. but lets face it you have a decent player in sutter who will fill out the 3rd line where staal was. your getting a solid prospect in return too and the 8th best pick in the draft. thats a win/win/win esp because you just slashed salary and can now open up and go after parise/suter

I heard the Parise rumor too..sounds pretty damn pointless for them to target him though. Dman sounds much more realistic and makes much more sense for PIT.

I actually think it's a solid trade for both sides. If I had to choose I would say Pitt probably got the better end of it, but prospects shmoshpects. They may or may not pan out and as of now Carolina has the best player in the trade so it's tough to say they got robbed.

That's true you know how i feel about prospects. But the pens got the 8th pick so they got to choose who they wanted.
