Sure to be an "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty next year.
Wake coach: Pitt QB's fake slide a slippery slopeAnyone got a video link of it?
How many times have there been penalties called against a defensive player who had committed to the hit only to have the QB slide. Yeah, probably a lot.And it should be. You can’t even breathe on a QB when they slide. What is the defense supposed to do?
Yeah, there should be a prohibition on that, it's a bad faith exploitation of the rule.
I don't know about making it a penalty, but at least call the play dead if a QB attempts to fake a slide.Sure to be an "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty next year.
More likely a "delay of game" penalty and marked from where the fake slide started.Sure to be an "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty next year.
Yeah, I wondered at the time… It’d be like a runner heading for the sideline and then when the D pulls up, darting down the sideline for extra yards… Pickett’s fake slide was ever-so-slight, but enough to make the D hesitate.
That moment was the fastest anyone has ever moved on a football field, imo.Vick did that to West Virginia one game.

Of course, if the D were allowed to plaster him the moment he takes the snap, this entire discussion would be irrelevant.LOL, looks more like savvy football to me. I see nothing wrong with this at all.
I am also of the opinion that he is fair game to get plastered the moment he takes the snap.
Yes. Nevertheless, it was just smart football by Pickett.Of course, if the D were allowed to plaster him the moment he takes the snap, this entire discussion would be irrelevant.
