LOL miss the points in the sprint and turn the race on today only to see my 3rd and 4th place cars wreck on the 1st lap.

They need to broadcast the drivers room every post-race. That was the most insightful part of the season so far.

Verstappen leads Red Bull 1-2 finish. Perez drove another excellent race and finishes 2nd. Lando Norris takes 3rd and George Russell in the Merc takes 4th.

Congrats to Hank who takes a commanding lead this week and Schmoopy for taking the Race points total. For the first time in our competition history, we have a three-way tie for Fourth Place. Schmoopy being Schmoopy comes roaring back for this race and joins the three-way tie for Fourth Place.

Next up is F-1 expanding its appearance in the United States with the inaugural Miami Grand Prix in two weeks. See everyone then.

Verstappen closes the leader gap to 28 points on LeClerc with this win. Interestingly, Russell is third in the Driver's Standing.

And Hamilton is lurking in 7th. If the Mercs get this car figured out, the season is long enough for Hamilton to catch Leclerc and Verstappen.

Russell had a great start. On the replays, you could see Hamilton had 3 wide in front of him and there was nowhere to go.

He should have jumped for the slicks 1 lap earlier but that Ocon release really screwed him. He lost 4 spots pitting there.

It’s weird how the Mercs and AMs can’t get the porpoising under control enough to drop their ride height. I say that solely because the Ferraris clearly are still bouncing all over the place (sometimes pretty violently) and yet can maintain serious speed over a full lap.
The way I heard it explained is that the floor on the Merc (and by extension the AM parts bin car) is more rigid than the Ferrari. The floor on the Ferrari flexes, so it adds a bit more cushion, so the driver is less jolted around inside. Kind of like the difference between riding a hard tail framed bicycle with fork shocks vs one with solid forks. Worth half to 3/4th of a second a lap. Russell seems to be handling the extra bouncing better, but the car is a a handful AND they are down on power. They couldn't develop as much on this year's engine/new fuel because they were chasing RBR the second half. Perfect storm.

I wonder why they haven't tried going back to the larger sidepod design they originally had. How could it be worse?

HAM wasn't done any favors with them waiting so long on enabling DRS, either. Had they done it while everyone was on Inters I think he'd hae gotten past and worked his way up to around 6-8. Getting stuck behind GAS who had DRS on ALB for like 30 laps must have been so frustrating. Especially after getting wedged by Ocon.

Joylen Palmer has a neat video on youtube about the porpoising.

The Ferrari porpoises, but settles down in the corners.

If the car is still porpoising entering the corner and is on the up motion, the driver has no front end. So caution is required.

Russell has had the better results, but misfortune has hurt Lewis more than anything. He should have finished ahead more than the once but has bad timing with safety cars and pit entry luck. And it punishes him with lost positions. Not taking anything away from Russell, very nice pass on Magnusson. The other thing is the first lap accident basically took out 3 drivers who likely were going to potentially finish ahead of Russell, making him 7th and Lewis 16th? Not as rosy then.

The car is a bitch. But supposedly other teams did upgrade things this weekend and MB did nothing other than trying to understand the data. Pretty sure they want to do something but don't want to waste precious $$ on doing the wrong thing.

McLaren pace has to encourage them on that front. And both Astons didn't shit the bed today.

The DRS decision was dumb, but it isn’t fair to act like it impacted Lewis more than others. He’s potentially the GOAT. He’s got to find a way to get around Pierre. Similarly, everyone would completely shit on Valteri for a drive like this, if he finished 13th while Lewis was 4th (ignoring SAI and maybe RIC would finish ahead). Lewis looks like he’s throwing up his hands so far this year and bagging it in, saying the car is undrivable. It’s a shitty car in its current form, but I’d expect a little more from him in terms of effort and competitiveness.

I also wonder why Merc hasn’t at least tried the sidepod design, too. Was it that much worse in the first round of testing?

Russell has a similar inflexible shitty car and he finished 4th yesterday and stands 4th in the Driver's points. Even though Wolff has admitted the car has problems, Russell is not yet jaded with Prima Donna disease that Hamilton now appears to be exhibiting. Crying like a lost girl. Suck it up and get after it ya flippin wussy boy.

And Lewis was blocked by 3 wide on the start. No way to get anywhere. Russell escaped to the outside and cars in front of him bounced out of the way.

You guys are listening to JV too much.
