LOL miss the points in the sprint and turn the race on today only to see my 3rd and 4th place cars wreck on the 1st lap.
Pretty sure right now Perez is 3rd.Verstappen closes the leader gap to 28 points on LeClerc with this win. Interestingly, Russell is third in the Driver's Standing.
He’s 4th now, but definitely got experience getting the most out of a shit carVerstappen closes the leader gap to 28 points on LeClerc with this win. Interestingly, Russell is third in the Driver's Standing.
Gonna go with
Verstappen
Perez
Leclerc
Sainz
The way I heard it explained is that the floor on the Merc (and by extension the AM parts bin car) is more rigid than the Ferrari. The floor on the Ferrari flexes, so it adds a bit more cushion, so the driver is less jolted around inside. Kind of like the difference between riding a hard tail framed bicycle with fork shocks vs one with solid forks. Worth half to 3/4th of a second a lap. Russell seems to be handling the extra bouncing better, but the car is a a handful AND they are down on power. They couldn't develop as much on this year's engine/new fuel because they were chasing RBR the second half. Perfect storm. It’s weird how the Mercs and AMs can’t get the porpoising under control enough to drop their ride height. I say that solely because the Ferraris clearly are still bouncing all over the place (sometimes pretty violently) and yet can maintain serious speed over a full lap.
HAM wasn't done any favors with them waiting so long on enabling DRS, either. Had they done it while everyone was on Inters I think he'd hae gotten past and worked his way up to around 6-8. Getting stuck behind GAS who had DRS on ALB for like 30 laps must have been so frustrating. Especially after getting wedged by Ocon.Russell had a great start. On the replays, you could see Hamilton had 3 wide in front of him and there was nowhere to go.
He should have jumped for the slicks 1 lap earlier but that Ocon release really screwed him. He lost 4 spots pitting there.
The DRS decision was dumb, but it isn’t fair to act like it impacted Lewis more than others. He’s potentially the GOAT. He’s got to find a way to get around Pierre. Similarly, everyone would completely shit on Valteri for a drive like this, if he finished 13th while Lewis was 4th (ignoring SAI and maybe RIC would finish ahead). Lewis looks like he’s throwing up his hands so far this year and bagging it in, saying the car is undrivable. It’s a shitty car in its current form, but I’d expect a little more from him in terms of effort and competitiveness.HAM wasn't done any favors with them waiting so long on enabling DRS, either.
