This team is not far away from contending again. We need a good left handed reliever and a good hitting catcher. This team is closer to winning again than most think!

Generally, I mostly agree with this although I would hedge on "not far away" because I'm unsure how long this old pitching staff can hold up.

I believe in Revere, Galvis, Herrera, Franco, Asche, Utley, the New Howard, and old man Carlos, and a little shuffling with what's left and in the minors - till the trading deadline. If the Phils are over .500, I would not trade anyone, unless an unlikely steal surfaced. I say build on what we have. Mid-level prospects means more slugs coming thru the swinging door, and I'd rather watch Utley, Howard, and Ruiz for the rest of this year. If Revere, Galvis, Herrera, Franco, and Asche can't get the job done, who will? At a certain point, you have to stick with what you have when you see some signs of a winning trend vs the alternative.

Philadelphia (18-24) had a .229 average while scoring 2.8 runs per game and owned the worst record in baseball following a 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh on May 12. The Phillies, though, have since won seven of eight games, batting .293 and averaging 4.6 runs.

That means they should package Brown and say Papelbon and whoever else is dead weight like Diekman and see if we can get a good catcher and a left-hand reliever.

Important stats, retro. The last 8 games or so allowed the Phillies to increase their over all hitting stats.
AVG OBP SLG
Apr .223 .280 .330
May.264 .318 .380
Now they are at: .242 .297 .352. Very anemic OBP and slugging vs the likes of STL and WSH. If they can just have more of those winning streaks which I think they can.

STL .268 .332 .408
WSH .262 .330 .422
