Harang VS Bettis. Harang has the edge in this one. Bettis is off and Harang is on. The win streak will continue. The Phillies pitching is the big reason for the streak. The bats have displayed little improvement.
The Phillies are at the bottom of all baseball with an average of 3 runs scored per game. Just once I would like to see Ruf get a start against the Rockies instead of Sizemore. But of course if Ruf hits a homer he will be benched for at least the next 3 or 4 games. That is the way Amaro dictates his handling. We are wining inspite of the the insanity of the management which only indicates we need a change in that dept. This team is already proving that we do not need a complete tanking the next 2 years. There are signs that we should keep Harang and Hamels around. We have some up and coming future stars in the minors plus next year we will have the money to add a free agent or two. One can only hope that one day this team will be managed with common sense!

This is exactly the mindset that has gotten Amaro and the Phillies in trouble over the past 4 years.

seriously. in probably what, 2 years? hamels will most likely become a borderline 3 or 4 starter.. and that's if he doesn't have injuries. amaro needs to start moving on these guys right now before something happens. problems are always right around the corner.

it's cool to see the phils win some games, but it clearly stops there.

realistically.. guys like nola, quinn, lively, eflin, crawford and maybe another prospect or two (if we're lucky enough for them to be that successful) will be slowly entering the picture over the next 1-3 seasons. toss in some free agents with the cash we have.. and we're talking about 2018 maybe to actually be a serious threat.

I see things a little different. But your reasoning is a possibility. Hamels is probably going to be solid for another 4 years or so. He is not injury prone. Our biggest need is a replacement for Ruiz. Finding a catcher who can at least hit .250 will be a challenge. We are stuck with Howard, but if he can hit around .250 or so and add 25 homers
and 90 Rbis that will be a plus. The Pitching will dictate how well or how poorly we will do. We can add one by free agency or trade next season. I Do not see a total decline during the rebuild if it is handled properly. Third base and shortstop seems to be set with two of our youngsters already. Plus we have some decent bench players as well.

Are you watching the same team I am? The pitching means nothing when you score under 3 runs per game. Still predict losing 96 with this motley bunch.

The Pitching is what lead us to a winning streak. The Phillies have been averaging 4 runs per game on this streak.
The average runs scored per game was 2.7 prior to the streak. Howard has been hitting better along with Utley coming around. Plus we now have Franco in the lineup. Pitching keeps you in the game. We may only lose 85 games this year if this continues!

Reuben, the goal is to win a World Series, NOT lose only 85 games. It's great that Hamels and even Howard are doing well. Their stock has gone up! Sell high. Don't make the same mistakes that has gotten this team to where they are today! Please Reuben, change your thinking and strategy!

I'm with Phillies and West Coast on this one. I'd be listening to all offers this year. I think they are going to have to shuffle the deck a few times before they actually have a good team. Right now, if someone gets hot and teams are interested, move him for prospects. Some teams are apparently looking at Revere REPORT: Phillies could deal Ben Revere - The Good Phight

The Philies have been trying to move Hamels, Howard, and Paps for a while. No serious bites as of yet. All I am
saying is that we can win more games this year than once imagined. Moving Harang makes no sense since we will get a nobody in trade. Next year we will probably be looking for a pitcher to start in the 4 or 5 spot so why not keep him. Trading Revere for prospects is OK with me, even trading Asche is just fine. Hamels may go by the break as teams will want to make a run. I see Nola as his eventual replacement. This team is not far away from contending again. We need a good left handed reliever and a good hitting catcher. This team is closer to winning again than most think!

Howard makes an error that leads to 3 unearned runs. The Philies will bounce back.

No we don't want to trade Revere, a 200 hit, .300, 50 SB guy who can't easily be replaced. Don't trade Asche who just arrived and will likely have a solid career once he settles in. Galvis will get 200 hits and hit .300. Herrera is solid with speed and some power. Franco can carry a team. So I hope the Phillies are careful with their moves because we suddenly have a good young team right now even though AZ and COL are no test. I'm anxious to see how they perform against the better teams.

its funny, Franco only has been here for a couple of games so far and he's already catching up to Utley in hits.

Yep. The string stops at 6. Geez, like I stated, I'll proceed with caution because as soon as we get a winning streak, we go on yet another long losing streak.
