We just cannot seem to stay out of the cellar. Those last two losses to the Cards killed any momentum we had going into the Marlins series.

According to another thread you and Northeast blamed Sandberg for costing the team 4-5 games. If they won those they would be right around 1st place.

why does Revere gets a D-. his avg is good. he's like 3rd or 2nd on the team in hits. granted he doesn't have any power or a strong arm and he's miss judged some fly balls. He's made more great catches than miss judges

Revere has the 33rd worst WAR among MLB position players. I could give two fucks about batting average when your OBP is under .300. With all due respect, if you think Revere deserves anything higher than a D- then you either haven't watched the Phillies much or don't know much about baseball.

I think you have to give Brown at least a D or D+ based on his ridiculous stats with guys on base.

I have to side with Progeria on Buchanan. When Kendrick put up numbers like that as the no. 5 starter people were crucifying him.

"Grades" are always objective, and the criteria isn't usually stated, but I'm factoring in the fact that Buchanan is a rookie fifth starter while Kendrick is a seven year veteran. An A- is too high, but I wouldn't go below a B or a B-

because his .280 BA is about as empty as it gets and he's a below average defender?

Yeah, I'd take him any day over Fausto Hernandez/Roberto Carmona (or whatever the fuck he's calling himself these days). His 2007 was such a fluke lol

Howard's OBP and WAR aren't much better than Revere's (Revere's WAR is #272 in the majors and Howard's is #239), and you give Howard a B?

Like I said earlier, "grades" are given because of a culmination of things. If you want to rate Howard and Revere's production non-subjectively, I'd be glad to do so. After three straight seasons of 1.5, -1.1, and 0.4 WARs, a 0.2 WAR for Howard through June doesn't seem that bad.

Yeah, that's why these letter grade things always lead to a lot of debate. But if you are basing it on preseason expectations and how they performed their given role on the team there is no grade you can possibly give Mayberry other than A+. He has been the best pinch hitter in baseball so far
