I think either Ruben or the owners missed the whole point. Their mission was to pony up and pay their bad contracts (or most of them) for the team they traded these guys to so they could get some decent prospects.

According to the announcers, the prospects weren't even worth trading anybody. I was thinking, huh? The trade the Yankees were interested in three weeks ago, for example, included Lee and Howard and one prospect, if the Phillies would pay portions (a large portion) of both Lee and Howard's contracts and that trade disappeared. I am not sure what is going on here but you are spot on, Cedrique. They missed the point because Boobens doesn't get it.
