At least MIL lost to CIN. I'm still confused why they would remove Eflin, a starting pitcher, after only one freakin inning. Thomson is an idiot. That was not winning baseball.
Spot on jvett. We have watched this stupidity all year long and that is one of the main reasons we stay stuck third in the NL East and are looking to try the WC avenue. Thomson just makes the dumbest decisions and he does it often. I am convinced if Eflin was left in, we would have taken that game.
The schedule was not kind to the Phillies. They have their final 10 games on the road while their competition for the third wild card each have their final 9 games at home.
Phils are a .507 team on the road while MIL and SD do .583 and.555 in home games.
PHL 36-35 AWAY .507
MIL 42-30 HOME .583
SD 40-32 HOME .555
In these rough projections, the Phils must play .600 ball in the last 10 games to avoid getting knocked out. The teams are so close there could by a tie for the third spot. To make this interesting, post your projections.
