Dunno how I feel about this one. We won, yay, but in a shootout against the worst team in the West. We came back from two really super bad goals in the first few minutes, yay, but Edmonton had three posts in the third alone. Our power play looked pretty solid, which is nice.

One thing I will say is that if Couturier looked any more snakebitten we'd have to get him some antivenom. Twice in alone on the goalie in ONE SEQUENCE and nothing, ugh. Kid's better than that.

Any win on the road is big, especially considering this is the first game they played since Monday and it is the first game of the road trip, it could be a huge boost for them going forward

As for Couts, it happens, I think he was surprised like all of us that he got those glorious chances, especially the second one - it was a horrid sequence by the Oilers giving up those chances and it goes to show you why they're a bad team

Certainly the Flyers will need to be better in Vancouver but I feel like with their legs back into things, they should be better in that next game

The end result looks bad on paper, but the game stats don't. We still outshot them 38-16, outhit them 26-16 and won the faceoff battle all in their building. The Oilers are definitely terrible, but it's because of their lack of team defense and goaltending. They do have I'd say four forwards who are absolute studs offensively and their speed/skill burnt us badly on a couple of egregious errors early on.

They got some chances in the 1st and 3rd periods, but I thought we still thoroughly outplayed them altogether. Our power play was scorching hot all game long and I come away feeling like Bryz did his best Tony Romo (or Kyle Orton...lol) impression, meaning he showed flashes of brilliance only to end up choking it away at the very end. I thought he definitely stole a point for his team, but we also got a lucky break with that 5 on 3 power play. Regardless, this is two points and we'll take it.

I was still amazed to beat even the Oilers in a shootout given the forwards they can send out and our inability to score while 1 on 1. G was clutch with that ridiculously accurate five hole shot and I think Raffl will probably get the call next time too, but Bryz definitely choked on that last attempt. It's why he couldn't make it in Philly.
