The comments Petty made about Danica has now escalated in response to Stewart's challenge to "put up or shut up" with Danica by Stewart. Richard Petty has responded to that challenge with "Bring it" and said he would race Danica anywhere, any time.

Looks like we have a Bobby Riggs/Billie Jean King match brewing and now the onus to put or shut up is on Tony Stewart who stated he would provide his #14 for Richard to use and the cars for the race. Richard has accepted the challenge.

I suppose this is the latest ploy by all involved to bolster dwindling ticket sales or maybe it is legit and Richard just wants to be taken seriously. Either way it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

you nailed it. That's all I could think from the moment I heard he made the comment. They're trying to create a buzz, some drama, to get folks tuned in and that's it. If they do race, Danica will lap his ass or he'll pack it in the wall.

If anybody thinks sponsorship is predicated on driving performance, than this ought to provide some evidence to suggest that if you have a vagina between your legs and you draw alot of fans, you can still be signed by high profile owners who like the revenue flow among other things. Apparently sponsorship based on driving performance only applies to men. Isn't that sexism? Just kidding.

She is 22nd in points and would be in the chase. Does someone like this deserve to get a spot over someone who is working his ass off to stay in say 15th place in points.....
