Islanders Advance to Second Round

Sprong had a goal and five assists in the first five games and two goals and an assist in Sunday’s clincher.
He said he felt better as the series went on and was happy to contribute offensively Sunday. “My teammates helped me stay positive and tonight they just went in for me,” he said.

I know the QMJHL is pretty weak defensively, but holy shit! 3 goals and 6 assists in six games! Sprong is real good. Another promising young player from the supposedly weak depth of the Penguins organization.

Sprong has serious game no doubt, but even I could probably score 3 goals & dish 6 assists in 6 games if I played in the QMJHL.

Only CHL stats I take seriously are the OHL stats. QJMHL & WHL are skewed IMO.

However...

If a goalie is dominant in the QJMHL & a forward is lighting people up in the WHL, then that might be worth taking a look at.

I agree, Doob. Hard to get really excited about scoring in the CHL. Still, considering Sprong impressed the organization enough in camp to make the roster, and then his mishandling by former HCMJ, I am still glad to see that Sprong is playing well for his team. Charlottetown advanced to the next round, though. So, the Pens likely won't have an opportunity to add him before the NHL playoffs begin.

Good news Rust and Malkin practiced.
I am wondering if/when they come back what the lines would be?

Sheary/Kunitz-Crosby-Hornqvist
Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel
Kunitz/Sheary-Malkin-Fehr
Rust-Cullen-Kuhnhackl

I guess the lines at practice were

Kunitz-Crosby-Hornqvist
Sheary-Malkin-Rust
Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel
Kuhnhackl-Cullen-Fehr

Those kind of have me salivating...

The only modifications I would consider would be flipping Kunitz and Sheary and Fehr and Rust.

Yeah I think that is the best combo and truthfully do as they did last game move Sheary and Kunitz as needed between lines.
