Orpik pisses me off more than any other Pens Dman. He's mediocre these days, and chats with the refs more than any other Pens player. Drives me bonkers. Then he steps up idiotically there. Martin is right next to the guy, but yeah, abandon the zone and your goalie.

PK is what I'm proud of. With the fire power this team has, they best light up the PP.

Meanwhile, Niskanen quietly continuing his production, 2A, +2, leading the league with a +28. Really love what he brings.

I've liked Orpik mostly for his hitting...his defensive positioning, not so much.

I don't know if it was covered up by having a good D partner in the past, but the past 2 years has been a fairly steady decline in play from him. In the past years ('08 especially) he was so very steady back there. Heck, I still contend the whole Hossa-Detroit thing was the best thing that could've happened to the Pens, because Orpik was gone if Hossa stayed here. He still hits, though not as much. Physicality is important, but I think Bortuzzo is that guy now. I really don't think they should re-sign him. Put that money in Nisky.

That shouldn't have been a goal. That's not how the rules work. Common sense says it's a goal, NHL rules doesn't. It was waved off on the ice because he blew it dead, not because he didn't think it was in. Regardless if it was "technically" in before the whistle, there's that silly "intent" rule. Zero explanation is fun too.

While I fully expect a goal here, the PK is the one time the Pens seem to focus on playing D. So who knows... I'd find it more ironic to kill both penalties and then give up a bad regular strength goal after the let up.
