I've never heard that! Just the 12 men on the field for the missed two point conversion - which gave Penn State the 2nd chance.

Might have been a Big 8 game... Before my time, but I remember reading about it when I was a kid. Somehow the refs missed an extra defender for several plays but the other team still scored.
