To be honest at first I hated the deal since no picks were involved and the timing.
But after looking at it more and more it truly isn't a bad deal for either side.
Neal gives the Preds what they need a PURE goal scorer. Now the question will be can he do that without Malkin? Before Malkin he was a goal producer all the same as Hornqvist.
Then Hornqvist gives the Penguins a more diciplined player that is better two-way vs what Neal was. I HIGHLY doubt he will go above 30 goals in a season for the Penguins but he gives their top 6 something that was missing. Real grit and not what Neal did which was dirty at times.
Spaling is a 3rd/4th liner that is a RFA just hope he doesn't cost too much and probably means Vitale is gone. I hope they can resign Goc though.
That is the huge glaring issue with this trade, NO CAP relief for the Penguins. Basically enough to cover Craig Adams +35 contract .
