With the lat strain he suffered last night. Leutge up for now but next Tuesday is when they will need another starter. Beavan is my best guess because I don't think Walker will be quite ready.

Just a huge bummer though because Paxton has been superb dating back to his call up last year. Hopefully its not much more then the 15 days.

It sucks because Paxton has been really good, but we oddly seem to have the pitching depth to withstand it for a couple of weeks. The starters have been going pretty deep into games so far this season and the bullpen hasn't been taxed too much, so that'll help when they move Young back into the rotation with someone from the minors for a start or two.

Really does suck that he will be going on the 15 day DL, especially considering the current state of our rotation.

Taijuan Walker (shoulder) struck out 10 hitters over five scoreless innings in a rehab start with Double-A Jackson on Wednesday. Bring him up.

It would be nice for Walker to be the one to come up but I get the feeling the organization wont rush him back which they shouldn't. I could be wrong though

Walker says hes ready to return from that strong outing in Double A but from what I read the mariners want him to do 1 more start throwing around 90 pitches before bringing him up to the majors.

Damn! The baseball gods weren't happy with the Mariners hot start, so they deal us another blow to the pitching staff. HOPEFULLY its not serious and he can be back in a few weeks.

It is a bummer but its not as bad as it couild have been. Its more of a bummer because he was pitching so well, I looked forward to his starts, I am confident in the mariners when he is out there. The thing that scares me is what he will be able to do once he gets back. Hopefully there are no lingering issues and he can get right back to the form he was before the injury.
