Albert Wilson got 8 AAV and can cash in with the new CBA. This isn't bad at all.Damn
I always thought Richardson had more ability than he was able to show in Seattle
But thats a lotta dough for a guy that has really done nothing at all in this league
Wilson was surprisingly enough the 25th best WR in the NFL last year, according to PFF. Led all WRs in broken tackles, as well.Albert Wilson got 8 AAV and can cash in with the new CBA. This isn't bad at all.
Maybe, but the new CBA shouldn't be discounted. Lot of 3 year deals being handed out this year. All that matters is the guaranteed money, same as every other deal.
He was indisputably an efficient player last year. Watching him all these years I got to ask why this year, however. My suspicion is he was schemed open more so than he got himself open; I have many of the same criticisms for Jarvis Landry minus the volume. He definitely stepped up to the plate after a horrible 2016 season. My question is is he really a WR2, or is he just a toppend WR3 or lowend 2.Wilson was surprisingly enough the 25th best WR in the NFL last year, according to PFF. It's definitely an interesting player as he can evidently put up efficient performances relative to his role. Not sure the pay reflects that here. Does his production match his performance?
I was talking Wilson, Albert. Why did he do better last year? Because Kearse was gone and Lockett got injured. So Richardson moved up the depth chart to #2 and made the most of it. But I read that of his 6 TD's 4 of them came when Russell Wilson was doing his patented "run for your life and eventually find a guy downfield for a huge gain" play that lasted over 4 seconds. No other receiver was even close to that, so it's hard to say how Richardson will do with a guy like Alex Smith throwing the ball instead of Wilson. I hope he does good, I always like PR and thought he'd break out eventually. Too bad he's leaving just when he was starting to get good.
Alex Smith is really good at the 'run for your life and eventually find a guy' but his downfield stuff is usually more planned. Why did he do better last year? A little overpriced? IDK. $20 mill guaranteed. Whew.
$40m over 5 years with $20m guaranteed? Yikes.
He is made of glass and in the event he somehow does stay healthy and perform like he did in 2017, that's still really overpaying for a solid #2 WR.
