North Carolina Central DT John Drew who had to leave Duke because of his involvement in shooting a firearm on campus.

Well...Another shooter is currently a team need. :L

John Abraham is nowhere near worth the money he wants IMO.

Found a snippit...

From masslive.com
A product of North Carolina Central, Drew recorded 18 tackles, including five for a loss, and two blocked kicks before being shut down for turf toe surgery. A source said the Patriots had interest in Drew coming out of college but wanted to see how he recovered from the operation before making a move.
Drew began his career at Duke and started all 12 games as a freshman, but he was kicked off the team after being arrested for firing a gun on campus. Drew plead guilty and served 12 months of supervised probation.
The 6-foot-2, 330-pound defensive tackle was unable to work out for scouts this offseason, but he reportedly ran 4.79 40-yard dash, according to the Herald Sun.

4.79 40 for a 330 pounder, and 2 blocked kicks (punts? FG's?), pretty athletic big guy.
Still curious about the firearm discharge. Was it a dummy move/accidental discharge, or was it definitly revolving around criminal activity.
Meaning, did some redneck who had been raised around guns hand his new college buddy who had never held one a pistol and the big dummy didn't know to keep his finger off the trigger, or was it a drug deal gone bad...?

Possession of a firearm on a college campus is a felony. I don't want to know more. I'm going to guess that they were more worried about the injury and did the background work just before bringing him in. Might have given him the contract (unsigned of course) to review pending the investigation. Kid might deserve another chance but we don't need this right now.
