Injuries mounting on us a bit and I think pulling down our overall play. Hopefully the 2 speedy tablesetters get back soon and give the team a little boost.

Too bad on Paxton. The hot young pitching prospects seem to be fool's gold about 9 out of 10 times. I think their value is best realized as trade capital before they prove to be less than advertised or have their careers derailed by injuries. Last one I remember to come up through our system and be good for a long period of time is Felix, and he may be the only 1. Walker still on track.

So I only watched the first two innings last night (east coast) but this is my take on Paxton's performance. As someone else mentioned, his FB was jumping last night, but damn was it a straight line. Something has to be adjusted to give it some wiggle. However, the ump was refusing to give him the low strike that the tracer was indicating was clearly in the zone. If some calls are changed, perhaps his entire performance is altered. Revisionist thinking, but that ump was terrible on those low FBs early. He also threw something like 23 FB of his 27 pitches in the first. His curve is pretty decent and needs to utilize it more if nothing more than to keep hitters off balance and aware of it.

Anyone know if Paxton prefers a 4 or 2 seam fb? 4 seamers tend to be really straight. It's so simple they have to have thought about it already, but damn....

Didn't they say in the telecast that they changed his arm angle and he's clearly not getting the movement he had prior to doing so? And if they did change his arm angle was it to help prevent future injury or for some other reason?

Either way, he clearly wasn't pitching at a major league level and if his arm angle has changed he's not likely to bounce back next week.

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that arm angle change as made in order to throw more strikes.

I'll have to load up on the opposing teams fantasy hitters that day and insert them into my lineup... Thanks for the heads up...

I actually picked him up and started him yesterday. Kind of tells you how my team is doing this year after winning my leagues two years running.

Kyle Stager looking like Ted Williams on HGH lately.

But I guess he's merely a "good" player, right?

This guy must be the reason they want to shrink the strike zone. He's terrible.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

It was a great trip to the top of the division, but I guess it was all just a fluke. Back to mediocrity we go...at least until the new owners decide where we should go from there.
