hopefully vs the packers these things get cleaned up a little
ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins want to see what receiver Josh Doctson can do, but they're not in a rush to see him do it. Not if it means costing him regular-season games.

Still, coach Jay Gruden said they will work him out before Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay, and if his right hamstring is fine? Then there's a chance he'll play. Doctson said Friday that his hamstring has "improved every day." He resumed practicing in full this week, though not when they were in full pads.
Doctson looked good in Richmond before hurting his hamstring 10 days ago. He did not play in the first preseason game at Baltimore. Doctson said he'll abide by "whatever Jay wants." Also, linebacker Ryan Anderson, who suffered a stinger vs. Baltimore last week, said he was fine. He'll also be a game-time decision.
Doctson's importance to the offense, of course, matters more during the regular season. But there's a fine line here: The Redskins don't want to make the hamstring worse; they would like him to get more time with quarterback Kirk Cousins.
They've worked quite a bit together in the offseason and before the injury in camp. Missing the practice time hurts, but they also need to work on connecting at game speed. The Redskins can't be cautious with Doctson because of his Achilles' issues. That's a tough way to operate and the injuries aren't connected. They do have to be cautious because of how hamstring injuries can become worse.
Cousins needs time with Doctson and Terrelle Pryor operating at game speed. The latter missed one practice -- Gruden gave him a day off. It helps Cousins that there's a good chance tight end Jordan Reed will come off the physically unable to perform list if he continues to progress from his sprained big left toe. Reed and receiver Jamison Crowder are expected to be Cousins' primary targets.
But Cousins and Doctson have only worked in a game together twice (and none in the preseason). That's not a good reason for Doctson to play if his hamstring isn't yet 100 percent. However, it is a reason he'll play if he can.
hendrix's distorted version is almost considered a protest against the anthem ... but its still classic so of course, lol
