He doesn't take Sirmon or Yankoff with him, does he?And there it is:
Washington co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith will reportedly be the next head football coach at Oregon State.
Danny Moran of the Oregonian reported the news.
Smith, 38, has served as an offensive assistant at Washington since 2014. He was the Beavers' starting quarterback from 1998-2001, leading them to a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2000.
Good hire for the Beavs at this point. I wish him success as long as he's not playing the Dawgs. There are plenty of Huskies who speak low of him, but I still find it hard to rag on a guy who helped us go to the playoff last year and 10-2 in 2017. Browning has the pass TD record and Gaskin the RB TD record. Smith was heavily involved in those performances.
I'm sure Coach Petersen has been preparing for this and I'm sure the next OC will help continue what we've built.
WOOF!!!
Both Oregon schools in the news cycle today.

Canzano's piece on the Smith hire as the next HC for Oregon State.
And no, I can't see at least Sirmon leaving because of Smith. Sirmon is a huge UW fan. His dad is a professor at their business school and he's been all dawg for a long time. His cousin is coming here as well.
Yankoff? Well, I wouldn't be too worried if he wants to be a beav. Keeping Sirmon is much more important, but who knows.
*Potentially good newsGood news for the Huskies.

Now Petersen has to go get someone better. I mean I think most of us believe that can't be that hard, but still need to see who he taps.
Also, rumors flying around he might be going after a few others on our staff to come with him and that could hurt.
Overall happy right now, but guarded until we see where all of the chips land.
If you follow his twitter he has been battling depression and homesickness all term. I think he just was not happy there. It is a bummer because I had high hopes for him next year. Now you have him and he may hurt Stanford.Hey would you know why Sione
Lund transferred to Utah this week?
Interesting! Thanks. I’m a high school football official here in UtahIf you follow his twitter he has been battling depression and homesickness all term. I think he just was not happy there. It is a bummer because I had high hopes for him next year. Now you have him and he may hurt Stanford.
He is a great kid, but seems to have not felt like he fit well etc. Another thought is he mentions letting people down, could that be a reference to him not taking his mission?
