Chip gets his first commit. 3-star APB Kazmeir Allen. His offers included Cal, ASU, USC, and Wisconsin.

Well it shouldn't be a shock for any RB that commits to Kelly. He's known for innovative ways of pushing the run game and putting up video game numbers on the ground.

As for FSU, rumors of offers are flying for all kinds of things. They could well offer Taggart, but that doesn't mean he'd take it. I mean the fans/school seem perfectly content with his performance here so why go take that pressure of having to win in one of those high level programs? He could take Oregon to 8-9 wins for years and not get fired.

And there it is:

Washington co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith will reportedly be the next head football coach at Oregon State.

Danny Moran of the Oregonian reported the news.

Smith, 38, has served as an offensive assistant at Washington since 2014. He was the Beavers' starting quarterback from 1998-2001, leading them to a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2000.

Good hire for the Beavs at this point. I wish him success as long as he's not playing the Dawgs. There are plenty of Huskies who speak low of him, but I still find it hard to rag on a guy who helped us go to the playoff last year and 10-2 in 2017. Browning has the pass TD record and Gaskin the RB TD record. Smith was heavily involved in those performances.
I'm sure Coach Petersen has been preparing for this and I'm sure the next OC will help continue what we've built.
WOOF!!!

He doesn't take Sirmon or Yankoff with him, does he?

Canzano: Oregon State goes romantic, hands the keys to Jonathan Smith
Canzano's piece on the Smith hire as the next HC for Oregon State.

And no, I can't see at least Sirmon leaving because of Smith. Sirmon is a huge UW fan. His dad is a professor at their business school and he's been all dawg for a long time. His cousin is coming here as well.

Yankoff? Well, I wouldn't be too worried if he wants to be a beav. Keeping Sirmon is much more important, but who knows.

Smith said to be looking to add either Riley or Erickson to his staff, but not both.

Neither would go to the Beavs. One of Chip Kellys biggest nut swingers, Justin Hopkins, the mod for the Ducks board on 24/7, is making insane rants that Chip is going flip Yankoff and turn him into a Hiesman. But that call makes 0 sense as they already have one of the top dual threat QBs in the nation committed and he says he wants to stick with UCLA.

Who knows. If Yankoff doesnt sign with the Dawgs at the early LOI and plans to wait till Feb, then he could be looking at his options.

Good news for the Huskies.
*Potentially good news

Now Petersen has to go get someone better. I mean I think most of us believe that can't be that hard, but still need to see who he taps.

Also, rumors flying around he might be going after a few others on our staff to come with him and that could hurt.

Overall happy right now, but guarded until we see where all of the chips land.

It's unlikely that he's unable to snag many people from the Huskies, I think. I expect the Huskies to go in-house and promote someone. According to that Seattle Times article, Helfrich and Petersen are close friends, which I didn't know.

I don't think we're short on options. I think it's more likely that we improve there than regress.

Hey would you know why Sione
Lund transferred to Utah this week?
If you follow his twitter he has been battling depression and homesickness all term. I think he just was not happy there. It is a bummer because I had high hopes for him next year. Now you have him and he may hurt Stanford.

He is a great kid, but seems to have not felt like he fit well etc. Another thought is he mentions letting people down, could that be a reference to him not taking his mission?

Interesting! Thanks. I’m a high school football official here in Utah
I was able to ref and watch many of his games
Great kid. I have no idea on the impact
For Stanford, but he’s a great kid and athlete

If true, then the PAC has filled its 2 HC openings. UW has a OC position to now fill and Beavs have an entire staff to build. Same with ASU.

If Taggart bails for FSU, then the Ducks will have to start over again, but I bet their already working a list of names and preparing. They will have a ton of work to do to rebuild the class. Expect a bunch of decommits.
