Wimp move. Ohio St. Has decided to cancel the home and away series with Washington for 2024/25 and pay us a 500k fee.

Not a fan of the Dawgs but this is a chicken shit move by Ohio State...unless they know something that we don't.

Are you in denial
Denial with what, not wanting ESPN? Disney is not the company you want to be attached to when the bubble finally bursts. ESPN plus has 1/10th the future of Amazon, AppleTv or YouTube tv. And as I pointed NBC isn’t in a position to be spending a shit load of money but they are in on an 8 billion plus dollar investment that might be going down.

Here is what tOSU AD said, "As a result of the cancellation, we will add an eighth home game for the 2024 season, affording us the opportunity to have the funding to pay the penalty and guarantee for that eighth opponent," Smith said. So OSU drops a game AWAY and replaces it with an EIGHTH HOME game so that OSU can afford to pay the $500,000 penalty to UW AND pay for the new guarantee to the pansy team. He left out... a game which OSU NOW has no chance of losing!

Comes down to is they didn't want to travel to the west coast twice.

Are you sure? It seems with the consolidation of the B1G and SEC it doesn’t seem any top team is going to take an unnecessary risk. If the game was played at Jerry’s world with the big fat payday then yeah, but if Ohio State loses in Seattle they don’t get financially compensated for that lost which essentially every top program has had to do in order to risk a loss. Money has greatly benefited college football but also is what is ruining it.

Yep, I'm sure. 2x to the west coast is costly and back in 2017 when the h2h was made OSU only had 1 trip out west. Now that SC/UCLA are in that makes 2 trips to the west. Also another tid bit is this year OSU has 6 home games where they had 8 last season. 2024 only 7 home games but ridding of Washington gets them that 8th home game. It's all about being able to survive a 1 loss season and still have a path to the CFP.

8 home games in a CFB season is a fucking joke. Of all the things the NCAA could do, balance a damn schedule.

I guess it's the rotation of the schedule that causes the unbalanced schedule

That is a conference thing, not the NCAA though. With how volatile things are the last thing anyone should want is the NCAA stepping in and trying to make new rules.

PAC 12 just needs to get a deal done. I doubt any PR stunts by the Big 12 are impacting the real decision makers. PAC 12 survival comes down to two things IMO:

1) Getting a media deal that's competitive with the ACC and Big 12.
2) Getting UO and UW to sign it and at least temporarily ending the Big Ten western expansion rumors.
