I've seen the stadium going up (pre lock down) on the side of the freeway in Vegas and it looked really cool. The death star. I hated the raiders (grew up Rams fan) but loved them with Marcus Allen winning the Super Bowl. But those black and grey colors the logo with the pirate with an eye patch and now the stadium being called the death star. Pretty fuckin cool.

Good news. :suds:

College football is beginning to come back online.

The NCAA cleared the path in a vote May 20 for its football programs — along with men’s and women’s basketball — to begin on-campus voluntary workouts as early as June 1 and then approved in a follow-up vote Friday that all sports may return to their respective campuses on the same date. The decision is only a guideline, however, and conferences and schools will make their own decisions based on guidance from state and local health officials as they continue to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

The Southeastern Conference became the first major conference to move forward with plans to return student-athletes to campus for voluntary workouts beginning June 8, but not all of its schools will follow that guideline. The Big 12 announced late Friday it will allow football players to use campus facilities for voluntary workouts beginning June 15.

It appears three of the Power 5 conferences — SEC, Pac-12 and Big 12 — will vote on guidelines that will lift moratoriums on organized team activities. The SEC and Big 12 made its decisions Friday and the Pac-12 is scheduled to vote on a return date next week.

Still, individual schools are moving forward with plans and have made announcements on when they will allow student-athletes to return to their campuses for the first time since March. Below is an updated list of return dates for voluntary workouts in football at all Power 5 teams and a few notable independent and Group of 5 programs.

IT’S BEEN A MAY to remember for Washington State recruiting fans -- seven new verbal commits, and there is still a week to go before the calendar turns to June.

Nick Rolovich has affected what is believed to be the biggest May football recruiting haul in program history, with the pandemic and resulting lack of on-campus visits fueling more pledges across college football than normal.

Last year at this time, WSU had less than half that number of verbals (3). The Cougs have typically enjoyed solid verbal commit stretches in June-July-August, but not large influxes in May – May is the month when assistant coaches would typically be out on the road during the evaluation period.

Wait'll they find out there's nothing out there.

They'll be thanking the Cougs and re-opening their recruitment. :dhd:

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 announced today that it will allow for voluntary in-person athletic workouts for all sports to commence on June 15, subject to the decision of each individual campus and where permissible by relevant governmental entities. The decision to update the Conference pandemic policy was made at a meeting of the Pac-12 CEO Group earlier today and follows the decision last week by the NCAA to permit conferences and schools to reopen for on-campus voluntary athletically related activities in all sports from June 1. The Pac-12 decision was informed by a comprehensive set of best practice guidelines and protocols established by the Pac-12 COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee. The Medical Advisory Committee includes a cross-section of the world’s leading infectious disease experts, physicians, researchers and trainers connected to Pac-12 universities.

“As educational institutions, our highest obligation is to the health and welfare of our students, faculty, and staff,” said Pac-12 CEO Group Chair and University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor Philip DiStefano. “As we considered the pros and cons of taking steps that can pave a path to returning to play, those considerations were foremost, guided by the advice of our own medical experts along with public health officials.”

“The Pac-12 is committed to the well-being of our student-athletes, and the decision to allow for voluntary workouts, subject to a determination by each school, is guided by the advice of our medical experts and will be supported by the detailed protocols established by our medical advisory committee in concert with our campus’ own safety guidelines,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “As states have either already opened or begin to open up access to parks, gyms and other training facilities, student-athletes should have the option at this time to be in, what for many, will be a much safer environment on campus, where they can have access to the best available health, well-being and training support.”

The Pac-12 COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee guidelines and protocols, which are being continuously updated based on the best available medical data, cover the following areas in detail: (i) return to campus, (ii) return to athletic facility, (iii) facility specific considerations, (iv) return to exercise and (v) response to infection or presumed infection. This includes best practice recommendations in connection with testing, contact tracing, monitoring, social distancing, hygiene measures, food service, quarantine and education among others. Each university will develop its own health and safety plan consistent with the committee’s recommendations along with relevant state and local public health guidance.
