If the basic deal is Sandoval for Shields, the Sox would need to include quite a bit extra. Right now, Sandoval is probably a net negative. Shields is still an innings eater, which has a lot of value. He is still a net positive.

Remember, prior to the official signing, when the entire baseball world, outside of Boston, was trying to figure out why the Red Sox would give him a $95 million contract?

LOL. Good times.

Did they make a change in management? It's hard to believe they could make such a stupid signing, but then also be smart enough to bench him when they realized he is not good enough to start. Usually when a team makes a bad signing like that they keep sending the guy out there since they spent so much money on him.

Not when the teams are the Dodgers, Yanks, or Red Sox, where they fucking print their own money. They can afford the swings and misses that come with the territory of high stakes FA signings.

Dombrowski didn't sign Pablo.

Last offseason he signed a different Venezuelan that bats switch and hit .245.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I could have just googled it and figured out that there indeed was a change in management instead of posting that question here--but it turns out I'm kind of lazy sometimes.

He's gotta lose Weight. Hopefully he can get it together and be worth the $$$ we paid him, but I doubt it.

Yeah, Sandoval is gaining way to much weight. Forget trading him, get him to a weight loss clinic soon.
