Is this the part in the They Crying Game movie where Stephen Rea realizes his new girlfriend has a bigger penis?

Explain to me how Minnesota U invented the internet.

I want to hear it from an expert.

A University of Minnesota team led by Mark McCahill, developed the Gopher Protocol, the effective predecessor to the World Wide Web. He also helped develop the URL and POP mail, and actually came up with the term "Surfing the Net".

And Silicon Valley, what led to the creation of Silicon Valley? A UMn grad and a UMn prof along with a 3rd person developed the Silicon based Transistor, and won a Nobel Prize for it.

No, it doesn't help Minnesota in the least when it comes to recruiting, just figured all of you yokels needed to be reminded how you might not even be able to talk about cfb online if not for the Univ of Minnesota's contributions. Just saying...

This is the only thing you've said that I've fact-checked, and it's wrong. Not only is it wrong, but you're really gonna hate the right answer:

Scientists theorized that silicon would be easier to fabricate, but few bothered to investigate this possibility. Morris Tanenbaum et al. at Bell Laboratories were the first to develop a working silicon transistor on January 26, 1954.
