They hav e money.
They don't have money.
They have money.
They don't have money.

Look, the biggest deadline acquisition they have made this entire century is Al Martin. No one is coming to save this offense. Don't know why you guys keep hoping for something different to happen.

Look at the GM's, Stand Pat blew, Bavasi was inexperienced but he tried, but failed. Jack has something Bavasi never had with the farm system.

This ownership has been the worst in pro sports... They just don't care about competing... Mariners are actually having a decent year but I've been burned so many times by this ownership I have full faith they'll dismantle whatever is built ... I pay attention a little because I love my city so dam much, but other than that this ownership group can piss off... I"m crossing my fingers they sell the team... Man I hope it happens...

You're not alone here, but in addition to your sentiment I would like to add that Mark Cuban needs to be the guy to buy the team. He has tried to get into baseball for years, and I think Seattle is the perfect place. Things will change quickly with an owner that gives a shit!

Mark Cuban would be an amazing baseball owner without any legitimate restrictions, but it is a pipedream because the MLB has made it clear they do not want him owning a club or he would own the Cubs or Rangers right now.

They need to get Chris Hansen and crew to say f it to the NBA and buy the Mariners. With their passion for basketball, they could use that passion and buy the Mariners which could lead to getting a NBA franchise down the line.

And if the Balmer deals falls through, then they have the billionaire backing that never hurts.

That would be beyond awesome... With Cuban this franchise would do a 180 quickly.. I"m with you on that one...

At least according to Mitch in the Morning, Steve hates baseball. He only cares about basketball. If that deal fell through and that crew would buy the Mariners, can you imagine how much money they would make. They'd triple what the Seahawks pull in with events at Safeco and whatever the new arena would named.

I agree, but if he hates baseball there goes the backer. Too bad for us. Why does Gates have to be such a nerd.

But there would still be some hope if Hansen were serious about it. Look at Paul Allen, Paul Allen doesn't care about football an ounce but he saw a business opportunity. Seattle fans have proven they will make the owners a boat load of money if they put a good product on the field.

There are so many more positives for a wealthy person to own the Mariners as opposed to trying to get an NBA franchise in Seattle.

Sports has always been a political issue and with who controls the state it is much easier to own a baseball team.

Allen is actually a huge sports fan. He isn't the geek that Gates is. Allen participates in both his teams drafts and is heavily involved in teams. Next to music I think sports is his biggest passion.

But back to the topic, would love Hansen group changing direction and going for the M's. They definitely have the passion for sports and the area.

Allen isn't a football fan which is the biggest misconception. The dude just has a ton of dough and is smart and hired football guys. If he was like was hands on to the Seahawks as he were to the Blazers then Seattle would still be a Storm town.

The Mariners, Cowboys and Redskins need an owner like Cuban, has the money but is smart enough to know he isn't smart enough about that sport and spend his money on guys who do. Allen has nothing to do with the Hawks pick as opposed to he had every thing to do with Websters pick.

He actually is a huge football fan and very much hands on. He is in the draft room every year, goes to all the games and is on the sidelines in the playoffs. He loves this stuff. Not sure where you heard he wasn't because that is far from the truth.

Paul Allen: Hands-off Seahawks owner with passion for sports | Seahawks | The Seattle Times

Well guess that is completely contrary to what I have heard, I've heard he was in the draft room but nowhere near hands on and is he is overly hands on when it comes to the Blazers and their horrible picks and stagnation....I might stand corrected.

He does leave football decision to his staff, but loves the game. He use to be hands on with the Blazers and still is and not always for the betterment for the team.

I found an article about Allen and the Mariners from a couple months back but I haven't read it yet. I could only hope.
