Essentially, the forwards as a whole don't play enough defense in my opinion and the defensemen, despite being mostly big and strong, do not clear the front of the net often enough. This leads to a lot of breakdowns in high scoring areas. This wasn't as much of a problem when we had Pronger, but it is now.

Yeah, no one on offense really commits much to offense. Superstars probably generally care more about offense than they do about defense, but someone needs to step up and set an example. Maybe that guy could be Vinny Lacavalier? :noidea:

I'll clean this up when I get to work. Lets not fight and bicker folks. BF4L I know you have good intentions but I don't think that was one of your better posts.

My sentiments exactly!

Yeah, this shouldn't get personal. I know we disagree on Laviolette, but I could see why patience are wearing thin with him. We'll see how it goes, I think the Flyers got a more complete team for him to work with so unless injuries pile up I don't think he has any excuses for failure this year.

Well, the moral of the story is that if you're going to be critical of someone and their post, take the time to explain your position, don't just make one quick snide remark and run off like a pussy. That's the definition of a troll.

And to stay on topic here, I don't think we really ever replaced the two-way play of Richards and Carter. I think it's safe to say that we're not going to get much defense out of our second line center, whether that be Schenn or Lecavalier.

I'm going out on a limb and saying Holmgren gets fired first if the team doesn't get its collective head out of its ass.

Laviolette's Leash is Short

My $0.02

I like Lavy, but I think the players had enough of him 2 years ago, and were surprised when he returned for the short season last year.

Not sure they're willing to play for him again; on the other hand, there are some new faces in town, so maybe Lavy has a new lease on life here. I, for one, would like that.

Another factor: *IF* Homer is looking over his shoulder and seeing Hexy grinning at him, he may be feeling the pressure of having a "GM in waiting" already in the organization. Sad but true: GM's can buy themselves a little more time if they fire the coach.

So, I would conclude that if the Flyers don't meet ownership's expectations in the first 10-20 games, Lavy will NOT be given additional time to turn things around, and he'll be axed for one or both of two reasons: 1) Homer is trying to extend his time as GM, and 2) the players may be judged to have given up on Lavy, and he legitimately has to go.

All good Awaz. Maybe it was not.

Did not mean to start shit in here. I do generally lurk around here but often dont comment.

Good luck in the coming season.

As to the OP. I always liked Lavy until a year or so ago. I think he survives the season though but if it is a failure he will get fired. So I am going with the over.

0-1, like we didn't see this coming from the lackluster pre-season we have been unfortunately watching, can't say it's the talent since it's there, it all falls on coaching or lack there of! I'm sticking with Lavy out between 15-20 games! If this continues heads must roll!

Lavi's time has run it's course. I like him a a coach but it's clear this team needs a new path.

I'm not there yet, but if it gets to 0-3 like last season, there may be a new coach by November simply because our schedule gets even tougher later this month. You'd have to think that his leash is fairly short either way.
