You need two people between you and the goal. Once the goalie pushed up that just left the defender. One man between him and the goal when the ball was delivered and it is offside.

I didn't get to see it but I was listening to the game. The announcers at first thought it was a bogus call but watching the replay they agreed it was correct.

well how about that.. played organized soccer for 15+ years and i never knew that.. thought it was just the last defender.. someone wasn't teaching me the game properly eh?

Yeah, usualy the keeper is always back so you only need one more defender.

I had the hardest time figuring out offside when I started watching hockey. I couldn't figure out how a player was offside when the defense was still in front of him.
